I willingly work in a mix of linear units almost daily.

Basically, if it's less than an inch, I find it much more convenient to work in millimeters. For the measurements I'm working with, I actually relate better with millimeters at that scale. But at an inch or more, I almost always choose to work in inches - the main exception being when I am doing CAD/CNC, as I don't feel like reconfiguring things back and forth and just leave it in millimeters.
