The Conqueror was the last Heavy Tank used by the British Army. It was developed during the late 1940s and early 1950s as a response to the Soviet IS-3, which it was feared outmatched any existing Western vehicle.

The Crazy Horse project was a 1987 attempt to produce a remote control tank for unmanned, moving target for training missile gunners. Based on Chieftain 00EB33, it could be controlled from a Stormer vehicle. Both are now in The Tank Museum collection.

Welding is a complicated process. The best way to achieve a consistent work angle is to keep the welder (women in this photo) still and angle the pieces being welded. This isn’t so easy when you’re dealing with a Centurion tank. Huge moveable manipulators like this were needed.

Cool.
In 1970 the small town that I grew up in was home to a U.S.S steel plant, as well as a dozen or so other large manufacturing plants, U.S.S. 'The Tube Mill' relocated to Gary Indiana in 1974, taking 5,000 jobs, and my GF, her family moved.
They used that helicopter to install a very large, long and heavy part into a very tall 'smoke stack', I think it was for emissions control, neat to watch for a 10 year old, we rode our bicycles over to watch.
In the early 1980's was at an air show, Beaver County, PA airport and one of them was hovering at 15' or so, lost power and gravity took over, guess it happened at a good time though.
Also had a B-17 crash in the later 1980's, it came in for a landing, the right wing was lifted due to a cross wind and the aircraft was going too slow to resume flight.

It crashed over a steep 100' foot hill at the end of the runway, 20 some paying passengers, several serious injuries, Thank God, no fire.
It was a smaller airport but brought some amazing aircraft from WWII and onward.
One year a B-1 and B-2 Stealth flew over, an Amazing sight to see, as well as the Massive C-5M Super Galaxy, it flew in low, it was surreal, seemed like it flew by in slow motion.
Sadly, no shows since 9-11-2011, it is restricted airspace now.
A lot of Military vehicles, equipment and weaponry as well.
It was 30 minutes from home.

Wow how long is the barrel on the XM1299? That bore would be a game changer as an AT Gun as the barrel would out distance most tank rounds.

It's impractical for a tank, too long and too heavy.
