I drove one at the Porsche Experience in Carson. It handled better than expected and the controlled launch was insane. Agreed that they are a common sight in SoCal.

Would love to see them give a nod back to the "BBS Titanium Gold" wheels. Best looking wheels they ever used.
Instead, it's going to look like a '77 Ford fire truck.

Think they need to do car launches with the actual car, even though it might be changed for the first test.  Not a rendering.  It’s becoming more of a livery launch than a car launch.

Credit to Alpine for doing that for two years in a row now. They also have one of their engineers explain the philosophy behind the design. It's very technical versus some car launches which are literally just corporate circle jerks.

Oh no, for the avoidance of doubt AMG cocks it up every now and then too.

But not the way Ferrari does. They do it with a little bit of extra Italian pizzaz.

Did Caterham evolve into any of the current teams or just get liquidated?

Does anyone have a family tree for each of the current teams?  Anyone have roots in Hesketh, Ensign, March?

Clearly you have never used an air supplied, impact gun.  What F1 uses, these things are those - but on a regime of steroids and a BCAA stack. LMAO!
Their kit kicks out like 3,000ft/lbs of torque at over 15,000 rpm. With that much power, unless the taper is perfectly aligned to the hub, a cross threaded nut is bound to happen at some point. Not mention mating all the wackiness of mating Titanium to press up against Magnesium. Two metals with different expansion and contraction characteristics.

But not tightening the nut though or releasing the car without a wheel tightened, yikes. How do you cock that up?!
The guns are designed to clutch in once full torque yield is reached and flash a signal light.
Unless you hear (and feel) "BRRRRRRRTTTTT"  and see a blinking LED on the body, Luigi, your nut is still loose.

Wow, now there is a name I haven't put to memory in a bit. I don't know what happened to them. If I remember correctly, Caterham was partially absorbed  by Lotus and then fell into the wacky year where we had two different teams calling themselves "Lotus" in the field - one was the real Lotus and the other was a smarty-smart who bought the rights to the name Lotus F1. I forget which was which, but i think the Caterham Lotus ran a Black/Gold scheme and the real Lotus ran in BRG.
But again, I'm bit hazy on this. Happy to be proven wrong.

Odd team to think about - what made you bring it up?

I'd be curious to see a F1 Family Tree as well.

I read an article alluding to that on motorsports.com last night.

I can’t find it now but here is the video that led me down that rabbit hole. Skip the first 11 minutes or so of babble and then the article and commentary start.

NEW DETAILS of Horner vs Verstappen DRAMA ??

ETA - Here is a Reddit thread that has copy/pastes of the article - Paerhaps someone can find the English version of the article (found the German and Dutch versions)

Caterham came in as a new team in 2010 but called themselves Lotus. Then in 2012 Lotus took over the Enstone team from Renault so Caterham had to stop calling themselves Lotus and start going by Caterham. The team was dissolved after the 2014 season.

See below, might be easier to view it in a new tab.

I know there's been some noise about Toto going after Max for Mercedes.....what if....they tried to get him and Newey?

Depends on how much faith you have in RB Powertrains and Ford...

On Red Bull:

- If Horner gets pushed out, Jonathan Wheatley will move over to team principal pretty naturally. If big RB keep him as interim and replace him with an outsider, there will be issues.

- Drivers generally telegraph what ends up being future moves. Hamilton had a history of telegraphing a possible move to Ferrari while Max has been telegraphing leaving the sport “early”. Anything can happen (Mercedes), but we have seen nothing but public honesty from Max.

- Newey is currently writing his final chapter in the sport and the RB17 project will keep him around for a few more years. Hell, his son is running the customer portion of that project. He is currently 65 and in a perfect position to go out in style. He isn’t going to start over with a new team.

LOL this dumb shit is picking up steam:

EXCLUSIVE: Sources reveal there are extensive plans to hold an F1 race in Chicago

The event may be named either the "North American Grand Prix" or the "Chicago Festival Grand Prix”, as the trademark application for the “Chicago Grand Prix” name will likely be rejected.

📅 Race looks to be targeted for late April-Mid June to coincide with ideal weather and the right fit in the calendar, preferably before or after Canada.

This is a great venue and to prepare, we should ask Caterpillar to donate some D11s, from their Illinois factory, to push the entire city of Chicago into Lake Michigan to clear the area for a race track.
