This is some thing that I would be interested in, if it is done correctly. I don’t see the point in making it in alternate calibers. Is anyone really going to stick an M lock rail on one of these? An original reproduction would be fun to shoot, but I can’t imagine this evolving into something that competes against the AK or the AR.
View Quote

Just cheaper to shoot.

If the mag looks basically like an 8mm one I will take one in any of the other calibers over 8mm kurz just to shoot it cheaper/more.

I imagine to attract buyers that have ammo bunkers of 5.56 and/or 7.62x39. 7.92 would be for the purists. .300 blackout for...people who like it and it's not much of a change from the 5.56?

Agreed. Sticking to 7.92K would make this thing DOA. Even if AAC makes 7.92K, there's no way it's going to compete against 5.56 and 7.62x39. I guess 300BO is just an easy button for them once the 5.56 one has been made and lets them cut into a little more of the market of folks who only want 5.56, but are bored with 5.56 and tell themselves "it's only  barrel change away from being a 5.56" when they buy a 300BO

If everyone who buys one of these buys it in 8mm Kurtz, there’s no reason why that caliber should cost more than 76 2 x 39. That’s fine if they want to sell it in alternate calibers, but at that point you might as well just buy an AR. It’s superior in every way.

That would be so awesome in a common caliber.

Then they can do a PPSH.
And an affordable BAR.
And an M79 in 37mm.

37mm M79s are easy to find in the $5-600 range. Hell, you can print one.

Good luck on an affordable BAR but a PPSh is pretty simple. Folks like me have been building them from kits for years.

Oh snap, just searched M79s, didn't know they were being made! Years ago I kept hearing rumblings about it but stopped paying attention.
.. now, what to sell to fund one.

And on the PPSHs, I wish I bought a parts kit years ago, honestly though I don't know what it takes to build one.  I'm gonna have to dig into it.

Then buy an MKE for $900-1000. PSA can't compete with that and they are wisely investing elsewhere.

If you want American spend a few hundred more and get a PTR.

Eh, we’ll have to agree to disagree. While I wouldn’t be be opposed to one, since I could reload for it, most folks are going to want it in a common caliber so they aren’t reliant on one or two ammo manufacturers who only produce it in salad day times.

Yea... wow, talk about completely missing the point and the market.  This is so mortals can have a pretty fantastic and functional piece of history, and one that they can run.  I think this project is completely awesome, and once again: Damn I love PSA!  I have to chuckle though, this is THE gun you really want your friend to buy - ha!

PPSh kit prices have gone full retard. I paid $170 for mine about 7 years ago. They are now closing in on $1k. Lots of neat and cheaper kits out there unless it has to be a PPSh. Maybe an M47 which is loosely PPSh based.

Prvi does make it. Better stock-up now while it's only 75-cents-a-round.

Hornady also does/did, IIRC, for no other reason than the owner has a Sturmgewehr.

Glock mags are irrelevant, MP5 controls are ambi and perfectly fine if you're able to operate anything other than an AR, and roller delayed blowback is vastly superior to straight blowback. It's okay, maybe someday someone will make something better than the MP5...but not yet.
