I know what you mean.

People ask us why our NV classes are only spring and fall/winter. I tell them in the summer our range is about 100+ during the day and not a lot less at night plus full of mosquitos.

I haven't been out hog hunting since April I believe.  That last trip was like something out of a sci-fi bug movie.  One of the guys with me almost went nuts trying to keep the skeeters off of him.  I told him you just have to embrace the suck.  Our place is split about half pasture with scattered oak mots, and half timber with spots of pasture.  We usually park up front at the house and walk since the hogs could be anywhere.   When you get closer to the timber, you can start to hear the mosquitos buzzing.  Vibrating with excitement at the thought of gorging on your blood.  It's one of the worst sounds in the world. When you are back there you are back there.  You aren't just going to walk back to the truck and call it a night. This is why I mainly only hunt in Winter.

This is why I hate the Summer.  Doesn't get dark until 8:30.  By Then I have a hard time convincing myself to go run around in the dark.

Winter is better.  I can go run around for a few hours, kill some pigs and be in bed by 10:30
Try 10pm and still see a glow on the horizon.....

Try living in a refinery town that is hot with high humidity.

The glow NEVER fades. EVER.

I decided to mow at 2 pm this past Sunday.  It was one of the dumber decisions i've made in a while.

Tuesday I fixed a ZTmower tire and decided to mow my mother’s yard (around 1130 AM), I stopped at 230 because I was sure I was gonna puke. On a Zero turn.

And I was well hydrated and I’m fairly heat tolerant. I run and walk 4 miles a day (aside from normal daily activities) no matter how hot (only miss during violent thunderstorms or because of work).

It’s painfully hot this year. Last year didn’t seem as bad to me (much dryer though).

And it ain’t much relief when it never drops below 80* at night. Gross

At least y'all get some hours of relief in the late evening though.  Some of my fondest memories are Montana in the Summer time sitting on a deck with a beer at 10PM enjoying the last of the light.   Here it's just heat and humidity through the day, then a little less heat and humidity at night.  Oh, and mosquitos. Lot's and lot's of Mosquitos. Fuck I hate summer.

@AbsoluteLemur I picked up some comtac 3s last summer.  Very much like them.  They were cheap bc the left side mic port didn’t work.  But for what I paid I’m ok dealing with the mic on the right.

I did the same thing this last Tuesday. I mowed from 11am to 4pm on my zero turn, and I'm fairly certain I gave myself heatstroke. I was nauseous, had a headache, and my vision was greying out anytime I moved to quick. I took a cold shower and chugged water and Gatorade. I finally started feeling better around 9pm.

I'm gonna start mowing at night using my NODs.

Good enough place to ask as any, but is there any decent airsoft grade helmet that’ll handle a rhino mount? Long story short I’m doing an extremely poor man nod setup mostly to hang out with a friend with terminal cancer. I don’t have the funds to put into anything bigger, so it’ll just be a SiOnyx Aurora black on the mount.

Any cheap bump with a should will work for you.  May be sloppy but with some bungee tethers it shouldn’t wobble too terribly.  Or you can do the boonie mod with a tracer tactical harness and boonie hat.  Still need a shroud and mount though.

That’s what I figured. Just wasn’t sure if some brands were better than others. I am going to make sure it has a metal shroud/mount though.
