Say I know a convicted felon and his was a nonviolent crime. Similar to the judge ruling against trump for mis valuing his estate. Money was borrowed, paid back in full with interest. So really a non crime. But was still convicted.

With the recent ruling out of the 9th circuit, https://www.courthousenews.com/ninth-circuit-finds-that-convicted-felons-also-have-second-amendment-rights/ Does he need to petition to have his rights restored? or can he go straight to gun ownership?

In theory, he is clear to buy HOWEVER there is zero doubt he will be denied and likely charged for attempting it.   He needs an attorney not the internet
