Talking about feels denies the ethical fact that targeting makes a difference. Different groups feel and act differently about the same facts; some groups are more wrong than others. Urban American blacks in riot-spawning zones are such a group, and have been since the Civil Rights Act was passed. Since the Civil War, if you read forbidden histories. There was sympathy while the rioters limited attacks to the precinct, since the department's police were visibly wrong. But the rioters didn't escalate to tarring and feathering the guilty police, or hanging them in a lynch mob. They didn't drive cops out of town, assassinate the police bosses, nor hold new elections for a parallel force. They chose to segue into random looting and destruction of civilian property - a choice their community repetitively makes. |
