Once again, sir, your students prove that they are incredible, and led by an incredible teacher. My hat is off to you, sir.

Bravo Zulu to Mr. Gilman and all in his guild.  This project just kept getting more intricate and complex as the year went along and it looks stupendous.

I have been hooked for many years and will look forward to many more years of however I can support the efforts of the years to come.....

Just to pile on, another amazing display.
To quote my wife when I showed her the video, " Holy shit those are some talented kids."
High praise, indeed.

It makes me happy to support these endeavors.

Had a random question come to mind earlier today.  How much does "the investors are watching" factor into student willingness to tackle rework for projects that aren't quite where they need to be?  I'm sure work ethic varies by community and yours seems above average but knowing the age groups you are working with I could see motivation being a challenge.  Since you seem to have mixed classes I am sure mentorship from the older students is also a factor.

The older students do tend to be more critical at times of our work quality and will opine on raising the bar at times if they see something that is not good enough.   Often it starts with, "What is this?  Why does it look like this?  We can do better."

Makes sense since all of your seniors have come up through the 'investor' era since they were freshmen.  Norms, expectations, and lessons learned are passed on to their younger counterparts either consciously or unconsciously.  From this side it is fun watching students grow as they pop up in pictures working on different projects year to year.  Some that struggle wind up in leadership roles down the road a year or two.  Can't put a price on the value of learning resilience and perseverance through creative problem solving.

The English department should be tasked with writing a short story based on the display.

Oh, forgot to say, those kids will look back at their amazing art teacher fondly for the rest of their lives. And those memories will last long after the art is dust.

Well done.

Guns,

The end of the project is all but here. I have sent the the video link and some of the pictures to my siblings. They all agree that this project was just spectacular. And that the donation made in our mother's name was worth every penny. We know she was watching from above and is very pleased with the students AND teacher. We are sure she pulled her sword and raised it in praise to all.

I haven't seen a new thread either, but it might be a bit early in the school year.  Hopefully @guns762 will chime in here with a link to the new thread when it gets going!

A train that runs through all the spaces, suspended in the middle of the ceiling running down the halls?

It has a whistle programmed to loudly toot outside classroom doors during state testing days only.
