Thomas is 75 and Alito is 73. So, he was probably implying that those two were going to retire or pass away before 2029.

He does have a point..

I hope he gets elected, and goes forward with appointing two more, just like they're planning but with his peeps not theirs.

They need support in congress to get their nominees through.  Just ask obama how the process works.

His age does not matter due to line of the succession.

He was arguing that voting for him means the Democrats might be able to nominate two justices by 2029.

It is an unfortunate truth that the pool of Constitutionalist judges in the nation to choose from has probably shrunk to be close to non-existent. We're like 50 years into a snowballing liberalization of the entire system and brainwashing of kids starting from kindergarten and going all the way through law school and beyond and D.I.E. will have only sped up the cancer.

and this:

in the number pi, at what position are the sequence of eight 8s?

ChatGPT
The sequence of eight 8s in the decimal expansion of pi occurs at position 78,244,228. This means that starting from the beginning of the decimal expansion of pi, you would find the sequence "88888888" beginning at the 78,244,228th digit.

That was my take on it. They are the oldest now and actuarial tables would say at least one of them will be gone before 2029. I just hope we do not wind up with a "Ginsberg" situation where they exit under Biden. A Republican Senate can only stall so long confirming an appointment. Last time they held Garland off for nine months but more than that it would get dicey.

Sotomayor 70 (next Tuesday the 25th)
Roberts 69
Kagan 64
Kavanaugh 59
Gorsuch 56
KBJ 54 (September 14th)
ACB 52

The two leading conservatives are at the top. There are reported to have been some talks with Sotomayor to have her step aside so that Biden can put another KJB type in. The Democrat Senate could move as fast as the Republicans did with ACB to put a replacement in and with the suspected flip of the Senate in November, Sotomayor would need to decide soon and they need to act fast in the fall.

nromal course is for resignations to happen in july/aug after the court finishes its term and geta  replacement before 10/1 term starts.

but if biden loses in november, i wouldnt bet against soto retiring a week later, especially if GOP wins the senate and will have control in january.

Sotomayor is in her 70s and, allegedly, dealing with a pretty harsh case of Diabetes.

Kagan is 64, and not in the sturdiest of general health, either.

So...next POTUS could, conceivably, end up appointing 4 justices....and if he picks younger, healthier ones....that could essentially shape the Court for 40 years.

Maybe it suggests the Dems learned something from running Clinton.  They didn't get the Presidency and that framed a lot of activity in the Judiciary and not just the Supreme court.  So they seem to know there are judicial outcomes/consequences along with legislative, yet they don't have a water-walking nominee again.  All parties should be considering the judiciary even if it's wonky to the voting public.

So if the Supreme Court rules that you must turn in your AR or the cops will destroy your life, what will you do? California is an example of what gun owners will do.
