Why?

I have 24 acres and I mow roughly an acre of it.

Why do you want 15 acres groomed?  You need a tractor with a bush hog.

Why do yankees call it brushhog?  https://bushhog.com/  It's like coke, skilsaw, band-aid, jet ski, crock-pot, chapstick, kleenex, etc...  There are bush hogs and grooming(finish) mowers for tractors.  (you'll need to know these things in Tennessee)

Why not fence it and let livestock keep it trimmed?

That’s a hay field, not a lawn.  Maybe divide it up and keep part as your lawn and have a farmer plant and harvest hay. Do a 50/50 or something split and sell your cut.

I own a Bush Hog brand rotery mower which is generally referred to as a brush hog. Because they were called brush hogs before Bush Hog the brand existed.......

Why do southerners call every brand soft drink a fkn coke?

You will mow 2-3 acres.  And bushog/have sheep on the rest.

I have a 48 inch Ferris S300 or 400.  Would have gone bigger if there was not a spot where I could only get the 48 inch through.  I have 2.3 Acres.

Have fun!

Plant trees.  Good wildlife habitat, better privacy.

Let the food come to you.

My Dad had 3 acres and younger me hated mowing that every week on a normal old school riding mower.  There is no fucking way I would spend the rest of my life mowing 15 acres.

I would get a nice zero turn mower and maintain around the house, then maybe a few acres of field.  Nature could have the rest back.  Maybe cut some trails through the rest after a while.

Need to up your budget, Kubota ZD1211/72”. In my area you can find nice low hour units for $13k. New they are around $20k.

If you don’t have a tractor already, get one and use a 3pt finish mower.

"What kind?"

"Dr Pepper."

can you got to a gov't auction and get a state-owned highway mower that looks like it's 20 feet across?

Honestly, do you REALLY want to mow 15 acres? I live on 12 now and mow 2.5 acres of it. After 25 years, I am so over that. The next home we build will be on about 20 acres and I am only planning on mowing a small area immediately around the house. The rest I will leave to the Florida wildlife.

That's what I decided to do on our 30 acres we bought that was formerly rowcrop land.

Sunflowers and Milo and lots of shotgun shells.

OP, seriously look into the JD 1585.

I mow 18ac at my house.  The 1585 changed my life.  As long as I dont let the grass get out of control, and can run at full speed, I mow about 4 acre per hour.

It was shockingly expensive, but was a total gamechanger.

I cant imagine wasting time with a ZT having to push both levers all day.  ZTs are awful for large area mowing.

OP, have you considered a couple cows or a few goats and then go apply for a farm tax exemption permit?
The tax card is beneficial and the animals will do the mowing for you.

They are awful for mowing while trying to drink a beer, otherwise my 72" Scag does fine for the 3.5 acres I mow on my 15 acre parcel.

35 acres here that are mowable. I mow about 1.5 acres at most.

I mowed 3.5-acres at our last property (really liked having that much finished lawn and to keep the bugs / rodents down) with a 72-inch Z-Turn in about 2.5-hours. It was enough. Either horses, goats or cows for more than that. And let the good snakes live to manage the rodents.

15 acres is a preposterous amount for a riding mower.

Pick out a reasonable sized yard and mow it, and let the rest either go to hay or native grass.

Honestly - mow something between 1/4 and 1/2 acre by your house - and a couple shooting lanes in front of your backstops.  Screw the rest.

It takes you 2.5 hours to mow 3.5 acres with a 72" ZT??

Lots of trees and pretty rough ground in a lot of it.....but, yes.
Might have been closer to 2-hours, but that included saddling up on the unit and cleaning it off when I was finished.

This.

Or a 15 foot batwing behind a 100HP tractor. It's mesmerizing.
Like giant vacuum cleaner lines in the carpet that you can see on google Earth.
