Tell him you'll pick him up in the morning. Then don't. When he finally gets to work give him his .50 euro.

Only the 15 ways to remove bloodstains is an exaggeration.

None of them he quoted even seems weird to me.

To be fair my parents would leave me and my brother at home when they went on vacation. Not sure that’s normal

There's a lot of truth to that.

Getting rid of the evidence before your parents got home was a necessary life skill, and one that was learned at an early age.

Not sure if normal but from about 12 y/o until I moved out of my parents house it was a regular thing to get off the school bus on Friday and not see my mom and dad until late Sunday evening.  No cell phones back then but I didn't really need them to check in. I survived.

1982, 15 years old, I was riding the Red Line bus from San Antonio, Tx to Portsmouth, NH and back alone.  Stayed with my grandmother that summer, she asked me when school was starting one day, I said I didn't know.  I did know, though, it started the day before.  Needless to say, I was on a bus the next day, headed home.

Streetlights?

We had a grand total of one in my neighborhood, which I believe was actually owned by a neighbor, plus a security light on our garage.

That one light served as a beacon for the entire neighborhood.

We had none for at least a mile. I had to depend on the generator-light on my bicycle to get me home. God what a piece of shit that was, people too young to have experienced that have no idea how far bike light technology has come.

Actual footage of one in use:

Gen X parent here … my kids preschool tried this bandaid for everything nonsense.  In my house, unless gushing blood or broken bone, I don’t want to hear about it.  Figure it out yourself, and if dripping blood, it be over a sink or outside and they are cleaning it up themselves.

No freeloading:

I was about 7 years old when one day my mom told me I couldn't fish in the pond or some other dumb thing.  I got pissed, put some food and clothes in my backpack, grabbed my fishing pole, and told her I was running away.  She said "ok.  Bye."  I came back about 8 hours later.  Don't think she ever bothered looking for me because she knew I'd be back.  I was the 3rd child so it was probably a blessing for her not to have me in her hair for a while .  Couldn't even imagine doing that with my daughter. . . my oh my how times have changed.
