Previous to this I thought the Murphy show at the fairgrounds was the worst I had ever seen in the area but this one took that title easily. I thought maybe everyone was hung over from Tulsa but as I understand it most of the core guys that participated in this promoters show are up there in age now and many hung it up after Covid. They were allowing you to come both days for one admission fee. I assume because of the lack of vendors. |

They put it out there as 200 tables, that's a good way to ensure few folks attend the fall show. That's too bad. jeffb put me on to this group, I'm sorry it didn't meet expectations. |

Its just part of it. It like the Forest Gump box of chocolates. I still enjoy hitting the shows to look. You never know what you will find. I found a flash hider in jeffb’s parts box that I had been looking for for a while. I just get frustrated with the table after table of Chinese knives, purses, face creams, gutters ect. |

View Quote I did not realize how bad the Bossier show would be. The tables were more spread out, and even those that were set up were not all filled. A couple had a lot of surplus stuff spread out on them, and the owner of all the boots/jackets/etc said they were empty tables so the promoter told him to just spread his stuff out to those tables as well. I'm kind of like jwb211, i get tired of dealing with all the non gun related stuff. I can deal with some surplus/camping/knives/etc, even some tools, but having jewelry/kitchenware/housewares etc. kind of make me wonder what is the promoter thinking? I prefer to look over tables that have all the various accoutrements of shooting-ammo related, holsters, scopes, are the tables i go to look and see what there is. i don't mind getting used gear that someone has tried out and decided they do not care for. Great deals can be had that way, and it is also good way to get rid of the gear that i'm tired of playing with. But i bet i'm preaching to the choir in this group. That being said, the Bossier show did stink. Drove about 90 minutes to get there. First show in a very long time that i did not find ANYTHING interesting. Prices way too high, a few guys selling counterfeit optics at almost real prices (look at the original companies websites to learn how to spot fakes). One jerk selling a fake ACOG said my TA31 was fake and said it wasn't worth 100 bucks to a guy looking it over. Things like that are killing the gunshows just as much as having ma kettle selling pies at the shows. Maybe we need to self police our own a little bit more..... |

And then the show just spirals down to a sustainable level, or the promoter goes under or stops doing shows. |

Any Arfcom vendors sell Glock parts or Tritium sights that will be at the Mesquite show? Specifically, I need a mag release spring for a G29, and NS for a G20.

Went to Tyler this morning at the little buildings beside where the new convention center will be built. Actually was crowded until about 1020 when the heat started getting bad. Lack of good air conditioning is a serious problem in those buildings! Had fun though. About to head to marshall if anyone is going there.

Looking forward to joining you again soon.

View Quote http://gandsgunshows.com/texas/marshall-tx-gun-knife-show/ Gun show promoter sites, on average, are among the worst organized and least updated on the internet. The larger professional outfits are much better at it, but even they make mistakes from time to time. HTML isn't a native tongue for most of the promoters, who grew up long before that was written. |

Originally Posted By Rio762: Generally speaking, how is the ALLTEX show? View Quote That venue where the show is held in Tyler is across the street from where Harvey Hall used to stand and the new version is being built as we discuss things. Plan was to be ready for the tyler rose festival in the fall, but i hear a lot of spoiled little rich girls might not get to prance around in their pretty dresses again this year, but that remains to be seen. Back to the currently standing venue...i think these buildings were built during the days of the WPA (look it up-it is interesting history of our country you need to know) i once set up a sound system in either this building or the one next door and found the power was about 85 volts instead of 110/120. Could have fried a bunch of sound equipment if they did not get that fixed. But the huge problem with that building is the air conditioning, or the lack of it! i did the show there in early april last year, and had a table right under the AC vents so it was constantly blowing on me. Outside it was lower 80s, and i still got hot, and i usually keep my house from 76-77 during the summer. Last weekend i went there, got there about 0920 or so. Room was a little warm, but by about 1030 was getting uncomfortable. I left about 1045, and i was sweating. i'm sure it only got hotter in there since it made it to the lower 90s that day. Anything hotter would be unbearable. Those buildings are all used for the fair in the fall usually, and used to hold dances in one of them quite a bit, but that was all evenings or in cooler times of the year. This weekend i'll be set up at Longview TX, and i think it is happening in Maude Cobb exhibit center. The venue was nicer than was the old harvey hall was in Tyler, but it was newer so that makes sense. Even when it is held in the older exhibit building at least the AC works very well. Now to get all these guns, parts, sharpening stuff, and basic gun junk loaded up before it gets too hot to easily breath in Texas.... |

Looks like the tables will at least be full, now to see if everyone from the woods of East Texas will come out on a nice day to a gunshow inside. Not sure if the cattle barn/rodeo looking area will have much going on tomorrow, or the small airport next door, but both did seem active today. Someone looked to be doing many low passes over the runway, heard that the entire time i was setting up.
