I had a pretty good time this weekend, and I learned a few things, some I should have already known.
1. Low power sucks when conditions are bad on SSB.
2. FT8 works with low power when conditions are bad.
3. There will always be unexpected issues that will alter your plans, such as cell phone coverage or cell phone malfunctions.
4. You can check and double check, but chances are, you will forget something you wanted or needed.
5. As I get older, the weather gods enjoy messing with me more and more. Friday temperature 71*. Friday overnight temp 39*, and Saturday temp up to 71, overnight dip down to 35*, and by the time I finished tearing down, it was back to 71 with a high of 81* on Sunday.
6. I got to see the most amazing display of the aurora in my lifetime. It was everywhere around me in the sky for the 3 hours I watched the show. It was going strong at 3am when I decided to head to bed. The aurora was pretty brief Saturday, and I gave up pretty early.
7. I had enough battery power to run things the whole weekend with the solar panels.
8. It is probably better to let someone else pick the dates and times for future activities.
9. I got enough contacts for park activation for all 3 days, I just need to figure out how to enter them into the pota site.
10. I wish I had been able to communicate to this thread better, but cell phone issues cropped up.
