On 15m, I copied IL, getting a response from IL
ETA: heard NE right before changing to 17m |
On 17m, contact with IL, MO, AK both ways. Heard OR, but no reply.
I heard IL on 30m but no reply. AK, MO, IL Good copy. Saw VA, but no response.
I think I have too much daylight for 30m and down, but I'll stick to the plan. Was hoping 30m might be a go, but crickets here.
ETA got 1 way from IL on 30m |
20m was IL, NE, TX, OR, AK. some others, possibly more, there was a lot going on. Replies from TX, NE

Noise is S9+15 with some sort of weird signal on 80m for me. Won't hear anything.
QRM stopped and noise dropped to S9 and I was able to receive GD and the relay from Shootindave |
80 was quiet. Heard MO and VA. They used me as a relay station.
All ARFCOM stations were +/- 300ms to me. Good job.
I think I'll build a 40m horizontal delta loop for my dedicated digital rig. I can get the feed point up ~35' and the other 2 corners up 20+ feet easy enough. |
So far, I like 20m and 40m ( even though 40 sucked tonight). 30m was strong and 17m was close.
Using an alternate freq for 40 would probably be better, too much going on that is unrelated.
20m was best for me, followed by 30 and 40. Normally 40 is pretty good, not sure what happened tonight. Im only QRP with the 705. If anyone wants visit my page there's a little identifier, if you want to steal it.
I'm liking 17m and 30m. I'll hang around 17m if anyone wants to chat then migrate to 30m later tonight for same.
I think a 12, 17, 30, 40m plan would cover the day/night and distance. |
30M and 80M are my weak antenna spots. I am limited to 25W on those due to using a tuner. I can probably fix 30M but 80M is stuck on the QTH antennas for the time being.
Stations I was able to hear: 12M Attached File 15M NOTHING 17M Attached File 20M Attached File 30M Attached File 40M Attached File |

what software is that?
Looks like pskreporter
Yes it's psk reporter. It's a great tool when the internet is up. It's not really needed, you can find out who is hearing you and who other people can hear with the JS8. But, I like the maps it provides
I was rebroadcasting and confirming things as I noticed them, was kind of busy on a project so I did not converse much.
I would say we stick to the plan for a few weeks to gauge which ones are working. If people want to ditch a band because it it is a poor performer, we can. It might be a little early to tell.
I would think that after a few weeks, we can eliminate some bands, extending the time per band. Then, we can move from simple SNR?s to directed messages and maybe reports. |
I’m prob only going to try 20m and 40m so what time would that be?
Quoted: So basically it is sending out hb @ARFCOM? Or @ARFCOM HB? View Quote Right click the @xxxxxxx group and you will see the options. The option you are asking about is probably SNR. It will ask group members to send you your signal report. If you are transmitting you cannot hear. So…… easy to miss stuff on JS8. |

bummer. that crazy storm is supposed to hit us about 9, and that's cutting it a little close, so i think i'm going to disconnect the antennas and just take a pass this week.
edit: just realized that was CDT. Since i'm EDT that puts it right in the middle of the storm, so i'm definitely out. |
We have slush falling right now. Really heavy wet crap. I may be on the EFHW tonight @20w. We shall see.
I got a 50% copy on the station at 824Hz but no callsign on 15m
Picked up a few stations, but didn't have @ARCFOM configured yet. Should be good now, hopefully stick around for a few more freq hops.
Hearing Ty +05. Got a solid path between me and NE, good enough for SSB.
I had S9 noise on this crap antenna on 15m. Should be better on 17m and 20m. I need to improve my digi ant.
I would turn off auto response to heartbeats and @All; or you migt miss net traffic while responding to all that.
