I keep poking around trying to find a new "nice" rifle for hunting mainly but also for fun at the range and working up good handloads.

This caught my eye, but I can't find one in a local store to get a feel for the stock. I'm wondering how that large looking grip feels and general thoughts on the rifle overall.

I know the the X-bolt 2 is now out with a supposedly better trigger and other upgrades, but most have carbon barrels and I'm just not into that or longer, thinner barrels. This slightly older version has a heavy sporter barrel that seems just about right and shorter for suppressor use.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm interested to hear from anyone with an X-bolt with McMillan stock. These are $2500 rifles and I wouldn't even think about it at that price but with the X-Bolt 2 out these are on clearance a lot of places for more like $1500.
