I have NEVER understood the attraction of Vortex optics.  They popped out of nowhere and not sure who even makes them but I saw an ad for a 1-10 for four grand.  Is that correct ?

To me there are way better options for a 1-10 than Vortex for less money

Am I missing something?  If so please educate me on what I am missing

OP is probably talking about the AMG 1-10x model.

I think euro optic was selling a Daniel defense AR with one of these as a package.. Daniel Defense M4A1 RIII with Vortex AMG 1-10x24 FFP EBR-9 For $5.595

The Razor 1-10's MSRP is $4000.  Never seen one for sale at that price.  The 1-6 is $2400.  Also never seen it listed for that price.

There is the 1-10 razor gen 3 that routinely sells for $1600 ish.

Then there is the AMG that I believe is the new contract optic for the UK. They have a fancy reticle in it that is civilians can’t get.

Two very different optics, for having a lot in common.

Vortex isn’t exactly a new brand, and they earned their seat at the table. Their lower cost scopes might not be your cup of tea but the razor dominated high end LPVO for a long time, and for good reason.

There’s a couple reviews on YouTube that aren’t all that favorable. I believe one said the more you spend on a Razor LPVO the worse they get.

Correct, it is this scope I received an email flyer on, may have come from SportOptics.com....not sure, may have been an email blast from EurpOptic...but I do remember thinking, $4000 for a Vortex????

SportOptics is close to me, their sister store is Interstate Guns and I go there quiet often, I have looked through a 1-6 Razor S/S with a NF NX8, and for me it is the NX8 hands down.  Hell my Trijicon Accoupower 1-8 competes with the Razor.

LPVOs are a compromise to begin then add in how short it is and a 10x erector ratio that is an incrediblely difficult thing to pull off, Im not surprised by this at all

I know a few guys running the Razor 1-10 for 2gun/3gun and love them.  Joe Farewell has won several matches shooting it.

Having said that, I shoot the Kahles K18i 1-8 as I liked the glass better even though it's SFP vs the Vortex's FFP.

I think the biggest problem with the 1-10 is that their 1-6 is so good that many don't see the added benefit for a more substantial cost.

I bought a Razor 1-10, and as said above, I didn't think the added cost, plus the compromises to get that extra 4x, were worth the extra scratch.

No idea how the AMG 1-10 stacks up, but I thought I read it wasn't that great. Again, no clue, though.

The vortex 1-6 gen II-E has been the gold standard for several years due to price point, glass quality, eye box and a true 1X.

A lot of people are carrying that mentality over and buying the 1-8 or 1-10 and getting disappointed for spending significantly more money and not having nearly as good clarity or eye box relief.

The last couple years there have been other options that have come to market that are lighter than the razor and comparable or in some cases better glass quality.

If I were in the market currently for a one to eight or one to 10, I would probably be looking at a night force ATACR or a Khales.

Vortex is a good scope, their biggest supports pay HALF MSRP.

Vortex MSRP has long been known to be WAY higher than MAP (street price).  They may even be the worst offenders of the practice.

Razor HD Gen3 3-36x EBR-7D MSRP is $4799.99 on the Vortex website.  MAP is $2999.99 and.  You can get one for $2099.30 with one of the many Vortex 30% discount certificates floating around.

I’m not sure if any of the vortex optics that form has evaluated have passed his tests .  Same goes for many leupolds including the mk5 3.6-18 & 5-25.

Vortex has earned their reputation, period.

One of the best budget LPVO’s on the market, beating many more expensive options & their top end stuff is fantastic.  Couple that with unbelievable customer service and they have more than earned it.

Yeah they have some Chinese crap, but that’s more of a consumer demand function than anything else.

AMG is an American made product, or as American a scope can be.
