Here are some pics from the range.

Zeroed off the bench and then went prone for the rest. I tested two different types of ammo, Hornady 75 grain match and Blackhills 77 grain SMK, both of which were .223. My friend told me he had good luck with the Hornady in his Lilja so I gave it a try but in the end I felt the 77 grain SMK's were doing better. Also I have to say I really like the Aimpoint at 12' o clock, pretty easy to use as a back up sight. Also I need a shooting mat lol.

I'll post pictures of the groups when I get my range bag from the car later tonight.

Still waiting for ADCO to turn my barrel back around. I will THEN have the only M&P 15-22 masquerading as a SEAL recce.

I sent the barrel to them so they could profile it for the OPS/AE collar. I will be using my pending AEM5/12th Model on it like 02overland did with his 15-22 Holland build. I'm getting pretty anxious; I sent ADCO the barrel at the first of last week so I'm praying it shows back up tomorrow or Saturday.

Seriously, I think the 16" .308 AR could be the ultimate expression of the Recce concept. Shorter and handier than bolt gun, semi auto, and the .308 still has plenty of reach and oomph over the 5.56.

I'm gonna get a QD mount and harris bipod to easily attach to one of my rail sections.  Other than that a sling and hand stop.   Maybe some bcm keymod panels if they ever come back in stock.  I'm torn between mounting a flashlight or not.  I'm leaning with not.  What you guys think?

I'd put a small rail section on for a light as well. Get an Atlas bipod with ADM mount.

Receivers are Aervoe Field Drab.

If I get my other rifle sold I'm going straight to a Nightforce 2.5-10x42 w/ Mil-R reticle... But if it doesn't sell soon, I'm going to get a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 for a short term placeholder while I save for the NF

It slightly cuts the "tuning fork" effect... And also blocks twigs and long grass from getting caught in it.

No clue if that is in fact the purpose of the groove... But hell, it can't hurt!

Just curious. A 16 inch barrel w/a 1/8 twist, free float rail and say an ACOG fits the bill here?

If so, I'm making this my place holder until the new upper gets here.

Think I need to ditch the cantilever mount in favor of a set of ARMS #22H rings. Also needs a completed paint job and the 12th Model / AEM5, which should be approved by fall.

Took my recently completed recce out today. Fired off the bench with bipod. I need to get a bag for the back and see what it can do. I'm the weakest link in the setup.

Best group of the day. This is my first time using OnTarget calculator so if you see anything wrong please let me know. Ammo was Black Hills 75 grn MHP

16" BCM SS410 Midlength
Youngs MFG NM BCG
NF 2.5-10x24
Geissele SSA
Wilson Combat TRIM
Everything else should be evident.

Pretty good!

Try prone, on a bag or rest and see how that does to tighten it up... Bet it would!

At least I shoot better that way

ETA:

I fired 1 round out of mine today at the range, just one... Forgot my solvent for the barrel break-in

I hit dead center bullseye at 50 yards with my BUIS's with that one shot though

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to get a bag with a bar and try loading the bipod a bit to see if I can tighten it up.

I'm seeing quite a few KMR's for being a relatively new handguard. They really do help balance things out with the heavier stainless barrels.

I've seen it before, but I can't remember off the top of my head who makes it.

Waiting on a TA01 NSN. Looking for a KAC 99051-taupe and deciding if I want to take off my CTR and go with a LMT.

Best not piss her off my friend, she looks like she knows what she's doing.

Update: SEAL recce finished. Just waiting for my 12th Model; should be approved sometime this fall. Scope gets painted once I'm sure I like it.
