My buddy has an unknown AR and has a problem...in his exact words  "my gas tube is leaking where it meets the gas prot block.  What should I do?"  he wants to know if there is somthing he can do instead of taking it somewhere and having th front sight block replaced like I told him to do.
thanks for any help.

AR's will leak gas out of the front of the FSB/tube and is normal to have fouling several inches down the gas tube.  The barrel gas port is sized for this leak out, and nothing needs to be done to the rifle except cleaing it every now and again.

humm, well something else is wrong with his rifle then, it wont cycle properly.  It may be a ammo related problem, or the fact that he got a mutt gun that he only paied $600 for.  It seems to work fine using PMC, but not wolf or federal ammo.

I have found that a few of my AR's don't like certain ammo. Ammo that my Mini 14 will eat all day. Get some Winnie Q3131A and see how she handles. Should eat it just fine. Good luck WarDawg
