What kind of 7.62x54R ammo do I have? All cans have 440 rounds each. Country? Light ball or something else? Corrosive or not?  This has been sitting in my basement and I forgot what it was. I got it from AIM Surplus many years ago.  Thanks!

I believe it's Russian heavy ball

Circle 10 is Bulgarian, also the 188 factory code.

I THINK (could not confirm quickly via Google) that the silver stripe equates to silver tip which is 147 gr steel core "light ball" (mild steel cuz it is cheap, not AP).  Should be good stuff.

All LPS, 147gn mild steel penetrator, steel bimetalic case aka copper washed. 440 round cans, two per wood crate.

Only difference is the ones with the 188 are Russian, and the 10 are Polish.

1. 1972 Bulgarian (10 inside a circle), steel core, light ball, will have a silver tip, should be copper washed steel cases

2. 1972 Soviet (Factory 188 in Novosibirsk), steel core, light ball, will have a silver tip, should copper washed steel cases

3. 1977 Soviet (Factory 188 in Novosibirsk), steel core, light ball, this will not have a colored tip as they ceased using the sliver tip in the early to mid 70's, should be copper washed steel cases

Yeah, been a while and I shot my beat to crap, pitted M38 over the weekend. I must be getting old, but that seemed sharper than I remembered.

I must be getting spoiled by all of these 5.56 semis I've been shooting.
