We have a very limited quantity of Mauser 1916's, as shown above, in a sealed plastic bag (shown below). Each gun also comes with a broken/very damaged stock that may or may not be repairable, qualifying these guns as C&R's. Metal is in fair-good condition, some may have rust and/or pitting. The parts included are the following:

Barrelled receiver with hand guard ring.
Assembled bolt, complete except for extractor (has collar).
Trigger with sear and spring, assembled, installed.
Ejector box, stripped (no ejector, no screw).
Front and rear band springs.
Buttplate with screws.
Recoil lug.
Front sight with cover.
Rear sight base, on gun, and sight with adjustment slide.
Front and rear barrel bands.
Rear inlet sling loop (no screws) and forend cap.
Trigger guard with floorplate (military, no screws, no spring/follower).
Stock (broken severely damaged, fair-poor condition).

Yep, its a project, but its a .308 Mauser you can build into anything you like, at a very low price. (The parts alone if they were to be purchased from Gun Parts Corp. would be over $350.00) Quantities are very limited on these.

NOTE!!!! These guns require an FFL to ship to and a C&R license is acceptable! Email it to [email protected] or fax to 304-274-0006.

Kit + stock = gun?

What's the catch?

If they are like the ones I've seen, they literally look like they were dug up on a battle field, rinsed off with a hose and bagged. S/n's were almost rusted away on some.

The stock is serialized and requires the ffl transfer ..

Missing parts.  Rough condition.  Money pit in the making.

OWS used to have 7mm 1916s for $119 a piece a few months back, did they all dry up?

small ring mauser? Pass.

I paid 1/3 of that for my VERY nice Izzy large ring Mauser in 7.62Nato.

I don’t think I’d shoot commercial.308 through those, especially if they’re rechambered as they were likely pressure tested for 7.62x51.

and it's likely to have excessive headspace and a sewer pipe barrel.

If you want a rifle to shoot or a project to build a custom rifle, a sporterized 98 Mauser would be much better and probably cheaper in the long run.

I have a very nice 1916 still in 7x57.  Left unmolested they are decent rifles to shoot at a lower pressure.

Some of the .308 conversions range from questionable to downright frightening.

I would just as soon find a 98 action for such a project or look for a 2A1 Ishapore Einfield to fit that bill.

As in rebored 7x57 with soldered chamber sleeve (to make up for the longer 7x57 chamber). No Thanks!!!!!

But small ring is the only option for 9x19 Rhineland kits

I still have to finish mine, have most of the parts, just gotta actually assemble it

Is there a threaded .45 ACP kit for small ring? Id like to build ine like chase45’s. He used a commercial large ring receiver though, I believe.

I built a large ring and am currently building a small ring .45 kit.  I shortened the small ring action for .45 acp.  Still in pieces though.

This would be what I'd use one for too.

I've got a VZ.24, and despite having a rough looking barrel and not being particularly rare, it shoots too good for me to justify converting to .45 ACP. Plus it was my first surplus rifle, so there's some sentimental value there too.

Dam I wish. We have been trying to get the 9mm to work in those with no luck.

Its far easier to convert them to 35 Remington and custom load those with 9mm or 357 lead cast with a pistol powder.  They are also good for 450bushmaster and 45acp.

Its a really good price too, to dam bad we just loaded up on Remington and HK projects.

Check out Rhineland arms for small ring barrel kits. I bought their 450 bushmaster kit
