Ecco Tracks are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. Bought a pair in Denmark and they fell apart in less than a year. Fluke? I have been wearing them for as long as I can remember. I get a new pair every two years or so because I usually wear them doing nasty stuff and they look horrible after two years. I have yet to have a pair fall apart. |

I've been a Salomon guy for the past two or three years.
I did buy a pair of Under Armors in between my last two Salomon purchases, and they sucked ass. ETA: Asolos are the best IMO, but I have trouble paying over $200 for footwear. |

I could never get the barefoot minimalist thing. I've never tried it, of course. But that just looks really uncomfortable View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Didn't buy as I already have 2 pairs of new Asic gels but I'm the odd man in the group runs, so I will wait for a sale and try em out. Everyone swears by them and claims reduced run times. Of course same guys went paleo diet too. |

salomon for me. Fits me like a glove. I bought a pair of Nike's recently that I cant wear. They feel like 90 bucks of cheap shit. I got salomon gore tex some time back for less than 100 bucks. Bought a second pair and they are still in box. |

I used to have a wide variety.
I don't wear anything but Nike SB dunk lows anymore. |

Everyone's feet are a little different so there is no one best shoe. For an everyday shoe to walk in I like Asics Kayano. They're a running shoe but I haven't found anything as comfortable for everyday wear.

for running i am partial to the Altra Torin - my feet are wide, but only in the toe. so for most shoes, it's either buy next 1/2 size up or buy an EE. the too-big sizing is a non-starter and the only EE that i've found to be good is the Brooks Ghost series, which is my second pick for running. at any rate, the Altras are a quality shoe and i've put hundreds of miles on mine since Jan of this year - unheard of for a running shoe, typically. a firm NOOOOOOPE is the Saucony Ride 8, which i tried on the advice of lots of runners, and hate them. least comfortable shoe ever.

Is there some kind of way to get the shape of your foot's arch by yourself? So as not to have to see a doctor.

I have been using Salomon's for several years but I just got a pair of Salewa's. I think they are my new favorite.
Time will tell how they last. |

Florsheim for work
new balance for 'active wear' Altama for my boots Dingo for shitkickers I cannot find old boondockers to save my life but I'd punch the pope in the dick for a pair that fit. |

Johnston & Murphy: the shoes of Presidents. Chris View Quote I bought a pair a few years ago. I wear them everywhere, even to do yard/tractor/mechanic work. Like most wear tennis shoes as I hate tennis shoes. I'm going to need to put a second set of soles on them very soon. I do have one place where I glued the stitching. I do not think they are as comfortable as Dexter loafers, but they are impressive. If you are an office guy, I don't believe you could do better for the price. I prefer Dexter, but the type I wear are too expensive, so I buy them like new off Ebay. |

This is all relative to what purpose the shoe serves.
The best work boot might come from Redwing. The best hiking shoes is a well built pair that fits really well, that may be Asolo, Scarpa, Vasque, 5.10 (the original 5.10, not the tactical garbage), etc. If we are speaking purely manufacturing perfection, I'd throw up John Lobb, Edward Green, or Hermes. If limited to American dress shoes, I'd say Alden then Allen Edmonds. |

View Quote I wanted to like these...but they seem more like a water shoe or almost a covered/protected flip flop. I have had a pair of solomon GTX something. Still wear them for yard work or anything that will get them trashed or muddy. Still going after 2 years. I just got a pair of Oboz I think it is. Here is the link to what I just got. It's the Sawtooth. They are bad fucking ass so far. Have only had them a week maybe. http://obozfootwear.com/ |

La Sportiva Synthesis
Hiker of the year, The New Goretex Surround, no laces, super breathable airmesh upper. And easily the most comfortable Shoe/hiker I've put on. Tried on several Northface, Solomon, and Adidas, even Merrel & Asolo Lowa didn't do it for me this time around. Then the rep said I know they look a little different than what you've been looking at, but they have all the features you've asked for, and will be more comfortable I guarantee it....so I tried a pair... OMG. Perfect. here is the mid version. Synthesis MID GTX ETA: Available at REI |

I really like Allen Edmonds for work casual.
My daily shoes, though, are Mephisto. Whites are the best boots. I used to be a Florsheim fan, but.. meh.. not anymore. Not bad, but not worth the money they charge. I also prefer Chippewa over Courtney. |
