If the city desired the monument to be removed then there exists much safer and legal means of doing so. I mention this as tearing down the statue was done in the presence of Portsmouth police, was it not? Assuming so, then the apparent knowing approval given by the city may lead to some interesting legal arrangements between those pulling down the statue, the family of the man the statue fell upon, the owner of the statue, and the city itself. |
