Quoted: Line pan with parchment paper. Put bacon on it. Oven at 400. Pay attention, because different bacon cooks at different rates. Almost... View Quote After cooking dozens of packs of bacon in the oven I've learned that 30 minutes @ 350°, followed by 300° until it reaches the desired crispiness is best. It gives the fat more time to render, and reduces the burnt edges. For the second part I set the oven to 300° and open the door for a minute to let the temp go down. |

If you lap the paper over the sides, most of the time the grease stays on the paper and you can dump it in your bacon grease bucket and the pan stays clean.

A lot of times I'll just put the bacon on a piece of Al foil with the edges folded up to keep the grease in.
Then I'll just toss it in the countertop toaster/oven - I hate heating the whole large oven range just for making a few strips of bacon. Clean up is easy, and I pour the grease into my bacon grease container for cooking uses later. Attached File |

Fellow BelleauWoodsman:
Tell me something I don’t know. It’s around 10 minutes (give or take depending on type). I have discovered the air fryer. Quicker, tastier with less cleanup. |

I do aluminum foil lined and then put a rack above the bacon sits on.

Quoted: We just recently in the past year did a recipe that required parchment paper. Then we started using it more and more. Now? I don't know how I ever baked anything without it. View Quote This! I get worried when I start getting low on parchment paper. Costco sells a huge roll but I can't always find it. Reynolds from Walmart is good too. If I let the grease cool and solidify, I can pick up the paper and throw it away without spilling even a drop. I don't have to wash the pan! |

Quoted: Honey and PB is awesome too, but you have to spread the honey on one side of the freshly cut bread and sorta let it "air dry" to form a sugary crust. PB and bacon was an Elvis favorite and the choice sandwich of many a wealthy, professional drunks at the CC I worked at as a kid After a few rounds of bloody Mary's before tee off, and the several breakfast beers on the front 9, some "pros" would ask for a PB&Bacon sammich at the turn... ...then continue to drink beer on the back 9, whiskey in the locker room bar, whiskey at the grill bar waiting for their wives...then at dinner...a bottle of wine. Those wealthy fucks knew the advantages of PB&Bacon sandwiches for all day drinking Speed View Quote My personal spin on this is a breakfast sandwich with PB, honey and bacon on toast. Absolutely amazing. |

Quoted: Bacon is meat candy View Quote Yes! I have been cooking 'cowboy style'.. cut in 2" lengths, load up a black iron pot (not skillet).. simmer... stir as often as necessary.. If sticks, you have too high heat and not stirring often enough. If it is popping, heat is way too high.. Only cover with the lid between stirring if the wind is high... or keep dirt out. Cook till done or just a little underdone if you are going to nuke it.. Drain on collander or paper towel.. cool grease till around 120 degrees, pour through paper lined collander into a bowl, then transfer to mason jar... Keep the bacon in a paper lined baggie in fridge or freeze.. take as needed.. quick snack |

Wastes bacon grease. Bacon is best prepared in a cast iron implement and cooked in about 1” of bacon grease.
Pro tip: when making tamales, use bacon grease in the tamale dough instead of Manteca. |

I did the bacon/aluminum/parchment for years.
BlackStone. Attached File Even better, almost no clean up. No smelly house for days. This is the way. (For the record I love bacon smell, but not for days. I have a crazy pro hood that sucks the air out like crazy as well, but the oven just maintains the smell.) Attached File Smash burgers FTW Attached File Attached File |

deep fry it (cook all water out in previous bacon grease, maybe use cow fat if u low).
best bacon ever |

this is just a bit beyond acceptable |

I've done my bacon in the oven for a few years now. Except I just put it on a cookie sheet, no paper or foil. 400° for about 14 mins (sometimes more, depends on the bacon). After taking the bacon off, I tilt the pan and collect the grease in a little bowl, then toss it later. Over the past few months, we've really been liking the Costco bacon. It's cut big, cooks flat, consistently crispy, and yummy.

I buy thick butcher bacon. Parchment paper oven at 350 for 18 minutes. 400 for another 4 minutes. I will never cook bacon in the microwave ever again.
