Another thread full of people that don't understand and flat out reject the ideomotor effect.
Awesome. These are always great. Let's get @Subnet and @swingset in here. |

These threads are always good for some weapons grade retardation.
Brandine, fetch me my witchin' sticks! |

Am I the only failing to see how the OP managed to "settle this science" with a story that didn't even involve the use of divining rods?

Quoted: Then why don't you go get rich right now? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prizes_for_evidence_of_the_paranormal View Quote As far as I know, the coat hanger technique works solely on metal water pipes. I've never tried it on PVC. The biggest difficulty using this technique is finding a wire coat hanger. |
|
|
I don't know why they work, but have used bent wire to find steel water and gas lines before, and pvc water lines.r
I can't use wooden sticks, find groundwater, oil, gas, gold , diamonds or Bigfoot poop. But the wires definitely cross when passing over water and steel pipes for me. Why? Magnetic field? Forest ghost? The Debbil? No clue |

As a local telecom tech, one of my job duties is to use a fault locator to locate damaged buried service wires. One day while locating a cut drop, one end was exposed coming from the house, my locator died. Without batteries, the fault locating A frame we use to center over the fault was useless. And I wasn't going to dig a 6ft wide hole to look for the other end of the drop going to the ped. I had a general idea of the direction from the ped, so I cut 2 pieces of #10 ground wire and went to dowsing. They moved over top of the fault, so I started going perpendicular to the path and they indicated over the same spot. 3 shovel scoops over the indicated spot later and I found the rest of my cut drop.
If you think they are only used to find water, well you're wrong. |

Your position is compelling.
I consider the matter settled now. Thank you. |

Someone, anyone, please provide the link to one double blind experiment that shows divining rods work. Until that, I have to believe that if they worked, someone would have won the Amazing Randy's million dollars.

I tracked it all the way to the street. years later I tracked my lateral lines at the house like that. I still don't believe it |

Water company guy just left. Found we have a leak between curb & house. He used listening equipment to determine the existence of the leak. It occurred to me to ask if he's ever used rods and he said yes. He uses coat hangers. View Quote

Dowsing rods do work.
I use them all the time to find Sasquatch graves. |

The dowsing challenge: 100y x 100y square, 1 randomly-placed buried cache of $100K, one randomly placed buried, explosive, pressure sensitive antipersonnel device.

I always tell myself that all the people who claim to believe in this stuff are just trolling.
... because I refuse to believe they can actually be that fucking stupid. |

If you look or drill deep enough you will aways hit water. A least 80% of the time. Divining rods are pseudo science.

What I find most interesting is the amount of old timers that come out of the woodwork raving against it. Almost as if they have an actual agenda--------------------- hmmmm?

I don't understand how a person can be convinced of something by just seeing it work once or twice or even 10 times. |
