Can’t watch the video at work, but I’ve seen a few of his previous pieces; there’s a sliver of truth, but it’s more about application than the tactics themselves. There are a lot of “former .mil SMEs” who rely on tactics taught within a very narrow focus. Rules of engagement are vastly different for .mil, LEO (state codes play a big role), and civilians; those distinctions are pretty damn important.
You can be an academic of tactics, but that doesn’t make you an expert at executing them. You can be a great shooter, but suck tactically. While I don’t think you have to have kicked in doors with incoming gunfire to be qualified as an expert instructor, there is some significant value of experience necessary to tie skills to application while under stress. I’ve had some extremely experienced instructors who were simply shitty instructors. Quality instruction involves skill, tactical competence (and updated relevance), experience (more is better), and the unique dynamics of teaching it effectively….and lastly, there’s marketing that can compensate for shortages in other areas and some do it better than others. Turns out people are complicated. Lucas/Trex Arms can be both great for 2A rights and a giant tool bag at the same time. He shouldn't claim to be what he's not. It's good he's gotten lots of people interested in firearms, 2A rights and training/practicing but he probably has no business instructing said training. I like their video on the history of the NFA but I'm not gonna watch him and his friends run around assaulting cardboard targets.
We need the skinny jean wearing video game players on our side too. Gun guys/gals can't just be Fat Fudds and dudes with beards & tats that just got out of the military. But don't ever lie in this community. Don't claim to be what you're not, fuck that. |

For those who can see the IG post linked, what was his response?
I’m curious if this is going to actually stick. The fact that Garand Thumb and Colion Noir posted in the comments section makes me think this won’t be something that Lucas can just brush off. |
