And there, my friend, is your first, and biggest problem. Windows does not like to restore from backups. You can ghost and re-image a machine pretty easily (usually), but restoring from a backup is a royal pain in the rear, if it works at all, under Windows... If you can, go back to XP. It's not nearly the resource hog, runs better/more stable, and stuff actually works with it (usually) without much/any tweaking. |

The machine came with Vista already installed from Dell. It was brand new in February. I also noticed that prior to initiating the restore my DVD Rom drive wasn't showing up in Windows but the DVD-/+RW was. I am goinig to see if this restore works and if not I may just have to call Dell and complain. |
