I'm okay at 66. Had shoulder surgery 4 years ago,shoulder is pain free. Om a med for irregular heartbeat,another for cholesterol and one for acid reflex. Blood tests come out great. It's the arthritis and plantar fasciitis that are killing me at times. Just had a cortisone shot in my foot two months ago,seems to be working well. Podiatrist laughed at my foot xray-"Your foot is a mess!". Next would be surgery if the cortisone quits working. Try to walk every day for exercise. After reading some of these posts,I'm not doing so bad.

I'm over 50. 2 months shy of completing 28 years as a firefighter. 3 orthopedic surgeries. But things could be worse.
Not what I used to be, but could be so much worse. |

I'm 51 and doing very well.
I take longer to heal and am not as quick but I can pretty much do what I did 25 years ago. I have always been physically active but have not abused myself. |

54 feel like 80.
Feet, ankles, hips, back, shoulders, elbow, wrists and fingers. Hard to work out, when everything hurts so much, pretty much gave up on it. Tried golf for exercise, shooting pains on the inside of my elbows when swinging the clubs. Went to the DR about my wrists, she put me on cholesterol meds. Went to a back specialist, he told me to not stand up so straight. I gatta find better Drs. |

Pretty lucky compared to a lot of guys around my age in here.
Couple of blown out discs that aggravate on occasion. Been dealing with that for over 20 years, just have to be aware of it. Arthritis from a broken collarbone and wrists . Had frost bitten toes in my younger years and they are quite temperature sensitive. 61 and no meds , I feel great most days ! Plus I have fabulous hair. Life is good . |

Mid 60s, I'm feeling it bad. Broken both ankles & neck in the past. Cancer and then 4 surgeries including a total hip replacement recently that did not go well. Arthritis everywhere. Cholesterol is a bit up but blood pressure is OK.
Thankfully I can still swim & bike 3-4 days a week and that keeps me moving but I can't run or even walk very far. I absolutely, positively hate getting old. |

66 here and still doing what I want to. Mounted a new level on the .308 today. New sling as well. Banging steel off the back porch out to 450 yards is pretty relaxing. A couple of weeks ago my Son helped me get dialed all the way out to 965. More to come I'm sure. Replaced the battery on my Ryobi power washer today. Hauled the trash, with tomorrow the first day of "shop clean out". Burned a BIG brush pile last week and did fine on the tractor. Washed the wifes' car today. I guess I'll die of boredom eventually. On the topic of dying,,,looking forward to my next checkup. Good possibility that I'll get off my T2 Diabetes drug. Hope so. Last time ALL my blood work was in the "normal" range and he told me that would be his trigger to take me off IF on my next visit everything stayed in the normal range.

Almost 50 and still wake up with morning wood and a tingling foot left over from my pinched nerve surgery. Im doing ok.

38 yo.
Severe back and neck injuries, busted elbows, hole through an ankle, nerve damage both arms and right side of face. Lyme disease dined on some brain tissue and had a bit of knees for a side dish, oh yea double and generally out of focus vision now too. Still fng like a champ though. |

50, great shape. Sciatica has slowed me down for the past 3 weeks, but not by much.

Last few years things have really started to fall apart. Arthritis from broken bones when young, eyes are starting to go, and a whole lot more. 2 Dr's told me I was fat and out of shape so time to work on that. Yup, growing old ain't for sissies.

Funny I'd find this thread tonight, birthday tomorrow.
I'm late, late 60s. I've had some issues, all minor. Seems that my exposure to the sun in my misspent youth is going to be a significant problem. Have ulcerative colitis, which can kill you but mine is in remission most of the time. After looking at my high school classmates I can let you in on one secret .......... keep moving. If you sit your ass in a recliner, watch tv, eat crap, drink too much, old age is going to SUCK. I started running when I was 63, everyone said I was crazy (which I am) but it really changed things for me. The knee that ached before still aches but no more than before. I don't have problems with depression, I move better and am in a hell of a lot better shape than I was at 60. Get out, go for a walk, lift, bike, whatever works for you. I'm not going to tell you that it will add years to your life, it might, but some of that is luck, but it will add quality to your time on earth. Plus you won't be boring the young people with the stories of all your ailments. |

Ive actually had a doctor cry when she gave me my prognosis.
I felt bad for her. |

Late 50's... Arthritis and some bone spurs in both knees from years of football and baseball. But I still have cartilage left, so no need for knee replacement. A cortisone shot every couple years when they get bad. But yeah... some days they hurt. I just tough it out when they do.
I've lost some weight which helps. Other than that, I'm holding up pretty well. Everything else still works. |

Things tend to ache more now that I'm in my mid 40's, but I'm much more physically fit now than when I was in my 20's when all I did was smoke, drink, and sit on the couch. I'm a lot heavier than I was then but also a lot stronger.
My knees do bother me a lot. I've been taking turmeric and it seems to help some. |

58, 5’9”, 220lbs.
Do 25 miles once or twice a week on a road bike. Gym 2-4 times a week for cardio, weights and swimming. Military weight was 185 @ 21 yrs. I’d be happy at 200#. Had achilles surgery a couple of years ago and gained10lbs that can’t seem to get rid because I like cookies...... Went to a memorial for an old friend this weekend....compared to most of the crew, I’m holding up really. No real health problem. BP med 5ml lisenopril. That’s it |

Was washing an airplane today which required wearing my waterproof shoes. Despite being very high quality, my feet were screaming by 9am. It wasn't that long ago I could wear them all day with no ill effects.

I was doing pretty well until I turned 70 three years ago. Heart wiring went wonky and I got a life-saving Pacemaker. God truly works miracles. I had a couple of hernia repairs which were minor inconveniences. I've lost 35lbs this past year but still have a worn-out knee that yells at me daily. The weight loss didn't cure the sleep apnea so I get a CPAP tomorrow. I work out 3 or 4 days a week which helps keep me limber. I volunteer at the local Food Pantry lifting 40lb crates but I need a nap when we're done. However God has blessed me in so many ways. I can do most things I used to do - only I'm a hell of a lot slower these days. Life is good. |

59 here, have been cycling fairly briskly for 10-15 miles on a semi daily schedule plus doing moderate weights since I was 30, so I don't know what I would be like if I didn't. anyway nothing hurts and everything works so far. once the warranty is up I expect everything will turn black and fall off. take a few supplements too, after trying quite a few different things I just kept buying a few that seemed to make a difference for me. hope the guys that are posting with severe health issues like cancer and other serious issues find their way back to health. not ignoring the rest of you with aches and pains but cancer is a cold heartless witch.

In a month I'll be 45.
Eyes are slowly starting to have near vision issues when I'm tired. I was in the best shape of my life at 42, but 2.5 years of night shift (that ended this last January) wore me down. I'm slowly getting back into shape...back up to around 50 push-ups. Before nights could easily do 80. If I lose about 15 pounds it'll help. |

my knees aren't as strong as they used to be. if i have to squat down for something, standing back up is almost a chore and sometimes i can't do it with just leg power, i have to help myself up. but if i go out to my shop and do some squats (exercise), i'm ok for the duration.
i guess it's because i've spent most of my working life on my feet and on hard surfaces. i've had a couple sitting jobs and one job on my feet but on carpet. but the rest have been on my feet for almost the entire shift and on hard surfaces (tile, concrete). also, if i sit for a good length of time, i have to stretch a bit (knees and ankles) before i can just take off walking. also, lately, my right arm has had some pain at the elbow. it's not constant, and sometimes it's worse than other times. but it's manageable and i can deal with it (i have a decent tolerance for pain). it could be arthritis....don't really know. c'est la vie |

I'm 41 years old. My right shoulder is stiff and range of motion sucks, my right knee is fucked up and sometimes hurts like hell, I need glasses, sleep like shit, and I feel old. The only thing I have going for me these days, is my dick still works without the use of drugs.

Turned 40 last year. Was in perfect health and didnt need to see a doctor in years other than checkups. Then suddenly the following happened:
My triglycerides are high (400's) and they put me on low dosage cholesterol meds. Fractured the head in my radial bone in my left arm the other day, that was fun. I have aches in my feet at times after waking up, it's like they need to get to operating temp or something before they feel fine. Getting to the point where I have to pee at night before my alarm goes off almost every night. A night of partying definitely affects me more the following day, it's like I have to plan ahead for it and not stay up too late or I feel like a loser if I dont get shit done the following day when I'm hung. Money is way more important then it's ever been. I check my books for my small business, my banking and investment accounts way more frequently then I ever have. I get pissed when people turn around in my driveway on dead end road I live on lately, it's clearly a dead end road you assholes. I yell at the clouds sometimes now, get the fuck off my lawn also. |

Joints are sore a bit, crack a little, but at 50, best shape of my life. Even academy fitness level.

At 46 I took off 99.5 pounds, just couldn't get that last half pound. Weighed less than out of Basic Training though.
Since then, weight has gone up 60 pounds but, I've been powerlifting and HIIT fan bike last 2 years mostly clean eating in excess to get stronger, put on muscle and fat. Have to loose about 20-40 pounds of fat and try to maintain added muscle. It's not the powerlifting that causes my aches and pains. It's everything else forcing me to compromise/interfere with my lifting. I swear it's my supportive gear is what allows me to keep trying to maintain muscle mass. Squat shoes & Chuck Taylor's for deadlift, wrist wraps, 4" 10mm thick lifting leather belt, benching extra reps using Mark Bell's SlingsShot, assistance rubber bands, and now I need to invest in high quality knee sleeves to keep all that in place and protected. I deadlifted barefoot the other day and hobbled for days after from an arch sprain that normally worn flat Chucks still apparently protects. Planning on getting a wider bench to better support shoulders too. 1/4th of my warmup is rotator cuff and back exercises comes from well invested PT co-pays. One thing I do know is my injuries were never caused by my workouts if I remember to use my support stuff. Strength and or endurance training keeps hitting you with hints of youthful feelings but the smell of Asper cream, Ben-gay, Bio-freeze etc reminds you your not getting any younger. |
