The engine is a chevy 4.3L for a 2002 blazer. I found an online shipped price of $1190. Local has it for 1395.00+ tax with trade-in. I think I found a local shop to install it for $800. I'm noob status on going to garages cause I hillbilly all my own shit. I'm not gonna repair the engine in the thing currently... It's too far gone. Blown gasket led to warped head. I bought the gasket kit and priced out getting the head turned down or replaced and it's the same as getting a refurb. So I'm in for tips or links, please and thank you, gearheads. ETA- I live in cleveland, Ooooohio |

... get a running 5.3 from a junkyard and use the 43 as a boat anchor? The easiest swap (while maintaining functional electronics for the gauge cluster) is the 5.7L V8. The wiring harness is identical sans the fuel injector spider plug. A turbo 5.3 is a lot more fun though! |

that 4.3 is a good motor, runs strong, but with what the other poster said I would have to agree that kind of money for an older blazer is not worth it, maybe find a wrecked one off craigslist? I found a nice 4.0 for my cj7 for 320.00 and it runs great. good luck though in whatever you decide. |

FWIW I unloaded my 99 blazer in good running condition for $2100 back in the winter. Good little trucks, that one was just starting to nickle and dime me and I wanted an actual pickup anyway. |

When I blew the 3.9 engine in my Dodge I swapped in a 5.9. It was a bolt in swap but required a computer change and wiring in the extra 2 fuel injectors. I didn't make any exhaust changes. The truck would over heat constantly afterwards due to the catalytic converter. My mileage dropped from 17 with the 3.9 to 12 with the 5.9.
