Quoted: To be fair, I do think ammo is nearly as cheap as it will ever be again so it's a good time to accumulate what you might want for the foreseeable future. Pre-chinaflu I could buy 9mm for $10/box locally. It's currently $12.50 locally(down from $13.50 last month) - only 25% increase while gas is up over 50% and groceries are up nearly 100%. I am in buy cheap and stack deep mode. View Quote Have seen it and bought recently for $10.50 I am I buy mode as well and my ammo fort is overflowing |

Do I have enough ammo, probably not.
Do I need to buy more, without a doubt? What I need is a place to shoot. I now have housing developments downrange where I normally shoot on two sides and an inadequate berm for handguns. |

Drop the price and be a little more realistic on your profit margins, until then, not taking your bait.

Some big sale of a company for 1.9 billion is going through. (May be wrong on amount) just popped up.

Nahhh eff all that.
I’m going to hold off until after the election, WWIII begins, and an ammo panic like never seen before occurs, then create a thread bitching about SG Ammo not giving me a secret handshake discount on 358 Winchester ammo. |

I have a 20 round box with 14 rounds left in it
I should be good for another 7 years of deer seasons, or more. Why would I possibly need more ammo than that? |

We'll see. We just got out of a couple years of panic, it always slows down and stays a bit lower after that. I'd be surprised to be the crazy high prices again this soon.

There is a legit shortage of the main component of gun powder.
Who knew importing that from China was a bad thing and not having any domestic production? |

All three places were packed to the gills with ammo. |

Eh Tom is probably right.
I think GD and Arfcom fall into the trap thinking gun owners in general are a lot like them. But I don't think that's the case. I think most Arfcom folks buy ammo/components routinely to keep their ammo fort up to date. But I submit there is a whole different class of gun owner out there that outnumbers arfcom 500:1. This gun owner only buys ammo when he needs it or when he feels panic. Goin' Huntin': Buy 20 rounds Shootin' some birds: buy 2 boxes of 25 rounds. Need ammo for new AR for home defense: Buy 40 rounds to load a 30 round mag. But when panic sets in, like the Summer of Love, a school shooting, impending legislation then it's: BUY ALL THE AMMO, CLEAN OUT THE STORES!!!! NECKBEARD ALL THE 22, I MUST HAVE IT ALL....!!!! And when this really kicks off then stocks hold out for usually about 48-72hrs in stores and online then EVERYTHING is cleaned out. Face it we all have family members/acquaintances/co-workers like this. When this happens again (and it will) it could get interesting if ammo companies can't re-supply their powders like they always have. |
|
|
I try not to get too caught up on the panics anymore, but I was once guilty. I have a set amount I'm looking to spend per month on ammo budget, so sometimes that gets me more and sometimes that gets me less.
