Generation Kill by Evan Wright.
Great book, watched the miniseries a long time ago then I stumbled across the book at Barnes and Noble and gave it a shot. It is pretty dead on the to miniseries, very entertaining and easy to follow, I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys reading about the middle east. https://www.amazon.com/Generation-Kill-Evan-Wright/dp/0425224740 |

Outstanding! Easily one of my personal favorite books. Wright does a fantastic job of capturing modern grunt culture and modern warfare at the same time. I freaking love the way he describes low light contact between LAVs and enemy combatants.
Also, I would very much recommend Lt. Fick's autobiography One Bullet Away. There are a lot more anecdotal descriptions of enemy contact during the same time frame, which were unpublished in Wright's book for unknown reasons. |
