I don’t know. I don’t have an answer, I’m just thinking out loud… Maybe this is the best method for catching them, but everyone here gets pissed when the FBI honeypots a stupid neckbeard into committing “terrorism” but somehow the same tactic for these sick losers is acceptable.

These guys are super fucking weird, disgusting and all... but the whole entrapment thing with a person that doesn't even exist just doesn't sit right with me.
What is your solution then?

If your concern is that these “posing as a minor as an on line lure” stings could entice someone into doing something THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE OTHERWISE DONE, then I can sort of see your point, i.e., the government is creating a crime and a perpetrator that otherwise did not exist.
I think that would be a very rare thing though.
The vast majority of the shitbags they snare in these stings are guys who are out preying on kids already, not innocent men who got tempted “just this one time” by the sting op.
ETA: Also, my understanding of how these ops are constructed is the only people who would even find one is someone who was already actively LOOKING for it in the first place, and that kind of ruins the “I would never do this if they didn’t tempt me” defense.
