I got an email from some dude in Dallas wanting to "confirm" that I knew him. WTF is that? Having worked the patch some years back, there is a possibility that he and I have crossed paths, but that would have been decades ago. What is this, just Spam?

I have a hard time even taking Linkedin seriously. Seems like it's almost Facebook for business contacts. One of my old friends announces a newly added "skill" almost weekly (he has several degrees and his new skills are the most rudimentary ones you can imagine). Then there's all all these endorsements of "skills" I possess from old friends I haven't seen in 20 years, who honestly have no idea what I even do. Thanks for the kind words and all, but as far as recommending me professionally, I really doubt you have any idea. I guess I'm supposed to return the favor and then endorse them for something equally as unknown to me.
Above all, keep the network alive! |
| Businesses seem to take Linkedin seriously as we are integrating aspects into some of our systems for contact management. And since this is the case I usually ignore most of my friends requests because in a business sense I would not want to be connected to them. Actually, I ignore almost all requests and essentially keep the account up for testing / integration purposes. I am hating social network more and more. |
