Iron Maiden – The Writing On The Wall (Official Video) Hopefully this means we’ll see a new album before the end of the year. |
|
I saw them in September 2019 for the Legacy of the Beast tour. They were amazing. It was an honest to God rock show the likes of which I'd never seen before.

Neat video.
Interesting composition for that song. Rare to get a slow grind from Maiden. I kept expecting the "Maiden gallop" to kick in any minute but it never came. |
|
This is a very loud TAG
(I’m workin ATM, will share this^ with my neighbors tonight) |

Across a painted desert lies a train of vagabonds
All that's left of what we were it's what we have become Once our empires glorious but now the empire's gone The dead gave us the time to live and now our time is done Now we are victorious we've become our slaves A land of hope and glory building graveyards for the brave Have you seen the writing on the wall Have you seen that writing Can you see the riders on the storm Can you see them riding ~ can you see them riding Holding on to jury is that all we ever know Ignorance our judge and jury all we've got to show From Hollywood to Babylon ~ holy war to kingdom come On a trail of dust and ashes ~ when the burning sky is done A tide of change is coming and that is what you fear The earthquake is a coming but you don't want to hear You're just too blind to see Have you seen the writing on the wall Have you seen that writing Can you see the riders on the storm Can you see them riding Can you see them riding. . . Riding next to you |

Quoted: The animation reminded me a lot of the movie Heavy Metal. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes I thought alot of Metalacalypse, The Animatrix, and the green fire made me think of Disenchantment Quoted: Not their best work. Agreed. And I am a big fan of Maiden. |

View Quote Yeah I saw them in Atlanta on that tour also - so glad I got to see them in person. That kicked ass. Oh, and there is something wrong with this recording - there is a mp3 downloadable that sounds significantly better. Definitely an issue with the audio on this video version. |

I really enjoyed it. Frankly, I like the fact that it's not the same old thing from them. I was very disappointed with the most recent AC/DC album. Sure, it was the AC/DC we've always known, but throw us something new...

That was awesome
I really liked the music and the vid was very cool in a retro sort of way - reminded me of Heavy Metal (the early 80’s animated movie). For those saying it wasn’t their best, etc - the band has been playing for 46 years and Bruce Dickinson has been the frontman for 40 years... (God damn now I feel old) but considering that - that song and vid is decidedly Maiden and they can still rock out - they didn’t sell out their style and Bruce still brings it for a 60-something year old. Adding that song to the playlist now. ETA Attached File Attached File |

Here's one of my favorite newish Maiden tune.

I thought that was great
what all the haters dont realize is that they are in their 60's you go on stage when you are 60+ I saw them 30 years ago and it was one of the funnest concerts ive ever been to not to mention Eddie is Iron Man now =) eta: he also is a pilot, flying ed force one among other ww2 planes |

I knew before I clicked that it would be mediocre.
Why do they feel the need to continue making music when obviously nothing they do now will measure up to their old stuff? |
|
|
Funny thing I noticed about Maiden was how many of their songs start with "the".
I had my USB of ripped cd's in the truck and just played the songs alphabetically, it became kinda comical. |
|
I liked it. Agree with the comment about it being like Heavy Metal.

My entire life I wanted to see Maiden in concert and finally did in Vegas a few years ago. It was a complete shit show, 115 degrees outside and 100 inside the arena, Bruce’s audio kept cutting out the entire concert and he started trashing Trump. Ghost was the opener and they were 100x better. Maiden would have been incredible but for the issues.

Cool video, song falls flat. Doesn’t speak to me like the big hits do. Repetitive, slow, no hard hitting emotive moment.
And I LOVE Maiden. |
|
It's ok. I'm happy to have more Iron Maiden to listen to even though I'm not a huge fan anymore.
|
|
I like it. Was listening to it earlier on the Echo out by the pool. I like how Maiden's music always makes me think.

|
As someone said, the mix for that video seems off.
I typically prefer Harris compositions to Smith/Dickinson ones like this one, but I'm glad to see new stuff being released. |

Quoted: I thought that too when they released the video for Speed of Light, but then the full album is pretty decent. Not ground shaking by any stretch, but a solid album. So I'll withhold final judgment. I just hope they fix the mix. View Quote I like Speed of Light a lot, partially because it reminds me of Deep Purple. Book of Souls is a fantastic album IMHO. |

The full tracklisting is:
1. Senjutsu (Smith/Harris) 8:20 2. Stratego (Gers/Harris) 4:59 3. The Writing On The Wall (Smith/Dickinson) 6:13 4. Lost In A Lost World (Harris) 9:31 5. Days Of Future Past (Smith/Dickinson) 4:03 6. The Time Machine (Gers/Harris) 7:09 7. Darkest Hour (Smith/Dickinson) 7:20 8. Death Of The Celts (Harris) 10:20 9. The Parchment (Harris) 12:39 10. Hell On Earth (Harris) 11:19 Really excited about the Harris tracks, since I usually enjoy the songs he wrote the most. The writing on the wall hasn't grown on me yet, way too soft for my taste. |

Maiden needs to ditch Kevin Shirley.. every maiden album he touches the sound is shit. Ditch him and get Roy Z on board to mix and produce.
I miss Martin Birch. Anyways, I dig the song and looking forward to the new album. |
