LOTS is a messy business even in ideal conditions, and the fact that this is the first major Oopsie at the beach site; well, it's overdue! With us having sent a bunch of LOTS assets that are over 25 years old and have been poorly resourced for over two decades to carry out a mission that was poorly defined and planned from the get-go, my hat is off to the Army and Navy crews in preventing this from being an even bigger shit-show than I expected. Nothing sank, no one was killed, and it looks like they didn't permanently break anything critical, which puts the US Army as a more competent maritime force than the Russian Black Sea fleet. The only redeeming factor in this entire op is the training and experience the Army boat crews, Navy beach personnel and LOTS folks are getting that may be useful once the Chinese get froggy. See, there are a couple bright points in and op that is otherwise an absolute goat-screw! |

I have been watching vids of front lines since 2014. A great many volunteers from villages
near the trenches served along side regulars in the trenches. The Russians shot at them often to try to get a response. |

That’s why I try to watch and post as much of the “low-level” video as possible. It’s grueling, but this is how the losses are happening. I’ve seen enough to know beyond any doubt that Russian casualties are in that ballpark and people who think otherwise are fools. It’s a bloody, savage war and I can’t wait to see the downfall of the Russian Empire. |

🇸🇪🇺🇦Swedish media Hallandspoten: Ukraine may use Swedish weapons against targets in Russia. It is a welcome announcement from the Minister of Defence. The government should work to convince other allies of this.
Minister for Defence of Sweden Pål Jonson - "Ukraine is exposed to an unprovoked and illegal war of aggression by Russia. According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself through military actions aimed at the enemy's territory as long as the military actions comply with the laws of war. Sweden stands behind international law and Ukraine's right to defend itself." It is a welcome message. The limits of Ukraine's defense should be set by international law, not by self-imposed restrictions of Ukraine's allies that cost Ukrainian lives. Sweden's government should argue for this position vis-à-vis other Western countries, not only behind closed doors but also publicly. This is how you form opinion, move the debate and get states to abandon unreasonable positions. https://hallandsposten.se/asikter/ledare/landgrans-ska-inte-skydda-rysk-angripare.09212cc1-6c94-4389-8b1a-2956a1aa9f9e

@AlmightyTallest Quoting back to PRIME’S post about the Vorozeh OTH radar hit last week. Note the system coverage diagram. The radar reportedly just hit is the one in Orsk - the other OTH radar which covers Iran. I’ll go on record making the call that Ukraine is doing Israel a quid-pro-quo favor: destroy the Russian OTH radars theoretically capable of detecting F-35s striking Iran. Ergo, a full strike on Iran’s nuclear program is impending and possibly imminent. Israel has successfully extended the combat radius of its F-35s (see links below) and has some aerial refueling capability. Un-refueled radius is likely to be around 850 miles. This is sufficient for strikes anywhere in Iran. It’s also sufficient to fly to Ukraine un-refueled - 900 miles from Tel Aviv to Odesa. I’ll dive a bit into extrapolation. I take it as fact that Russia assisted Iran/Hamas’ attack on Israel, and that a defacto alliance exists between Russia and Iran. This means that an attack on Iran, which Israel sees as necessary and existential, could bring about a state of war or “conflict short of war” with Russia. Therefore, in going down that path, Israel also needs to think about its deterrent ability vis-a-vis Russia. Israel’s latest Jericho nuclear IRBMs can reach targets in Russia that matter - again, dovetailing with Ukraine’s destruction of the OTH radars pointing towards Israel. Additionally, F-35s can reach Ukraine from Israel and from there, could range throughout most of southern Russia at will with either nuclear bombs, or wreaking pure havoc with guided munitions. Ukraine for its cooperation makes Russia’s strategic situation much, much worse, and possibly gets access to a proxy nuclear deterrent force in Israeli F-35s with nukes. Article about Israel’s development of LR fuel tanks for the F-35. Says Israel has succeeded. |

Ukraine catch up thread 🧵for week ending Sunday 26th May 2024
Catching up on the past week, Ukraine's drone and missile strikes have had a very costly impact on Russian forces. From the Voronezh-DM radar, to the destruction of S-400 plus radar, to the sinking of the 'Tsiklon', the last working Karakurt class corvette in the Black Sea which was commissioned less than a year ago. There were other important strikes too, the impact of which we've yet to see. Russian forces have been brought to a halt in north Kharkiv, and casualties are pretty bad from the KIA/MIA reports we've seen. They've resorted to lashing out at Kharkiv civilians, including the horrendous strike on the hardware store where at least 16 civilians have lost their lives. Elsewhere though, Russian forces have had success such as on the Kharkiv/Luhansk front where they advanced into Berestove and Ivanivka. They also advanced across the rail line to capture the ruins of Klishchiivka. It is thought that Russia will reopen the Sumy front at some point in the near future, though at this stage we can't see it going any better than the Kharkiv front. Ukrainian forces have had some very small tactical success, retaking some dacha areas near Pavlivka, as well as small gains north of Synkivka. Mostly though it seems many attacks have been repelled, and things cannot be going the way Russia had hoped. East of Chasiv Yar in the Kanal district numerous assaults were repelled with substantial vehicular losses. It was also the first week of Ukraine's mobilization. No large protests, plenty of sign ups. It'll be months before we see the trained troops on the front, but at least it is finally done. Map: https://uacontrolmap.com

It also has the benefit of Ukraine hitting Russian strategic targets that degrade it's ability in a nuclear strike and yet shows NATO that Russia isn't going to do very much about it. So let the weapons we give to them be used on Russian territory without restrictions. |

PRC absolutely means full-scale war, invasion, and conquest for Taiwan, and would likely be unable to resist any provocation. I fear the time when Taiwan could actually fire with some semblance of superiority is gone. China might be willing to significantly accelerate their invasion timetable if Taiwan sunk a few ships or shot down a few aircraft. We really need to deliver that $19.5 billion arms package to Taiwan ASAP. That would be the biggest response. |
