Doesn't shaving in the field/in a shit hole country increase risk for infection anyways? Stupid question.

In before some Rastafarian wants to wear dreads and one of those scraggly beards they seem to sport- and smoke herb.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander. This is what happens when you start making exceptions.

Just let everyone have beards. They already allow mustaches. Who fucking cares.
"but what about gas attacks?" No one wears gas masks anymore in the army. And I can tell you as someone that trains with them at my current agency, I get a good seal with my beard. I used to shave before training events and now I don't bother. |

Our military allowed beards for the majority of its history. Clean shaven and really short hair is a relatively recent phenomenon. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If every other special snowflake gets a pass, so should people of European ancestry/identity.
Keep a tube of petroleum jelly with your promask through. Kinda sucks for decon, but can help keep a good seal. |

M50 Mask has proven to work fine. Your buddy's field knife will take the bulk of your beard off if need be...

Quoted: I agree. That's a lot more reasonable than individual exemptions due to made up religious practices. Just let everyone have beards with reasonable grooming standards. Of course, some snowflake will end up saying that half an inch long violates the religion of the spaghetti monster and HIS beard must be long enough to tuck in his pants. View Quote |

Why is clean shaven a big deal anyways? Plenty of 9tger countries allow beards, our tier 1 warriors are known specifically for their badass Norse beards, so why not make a standard and let anyone have one?
Seeks like much ado about nothing. The presence or lack of a beard isn't going to change a darn thing with our military performance or readiness. |

Once they meet weight/strength standards transition them to basic. |

Does this mean he gets leave for pagan holidays?
I knew a few Marines who claimed to be "Wiccan" that tried that shit. Gunny said something to the effect of: "I don't care what horseshit you claim to believe but you're not a goddamn witch and you're not getting leave for your made-up bullshit holiday." The rest of us just thought they were fags for pulling that shit. |

Apparently there are quite a few E-9s on ARFCOM.
If everyone from Vikings in the Dark Ages to the SAS in WWII and both sides of the Boer War can manage to survive as a professional military organization despite being bearded I don't think facial hair will do more to damage our military readiness than all of the other sort of nonsense that has been implemented ETA: Semi-professional in case of the Vikings |
