Good thing. It's basically why most of us bought the stock. Of course, it all comes down to the buyout price. People have estimated just the LIDAR portion of the company to be worth several billion with each billion equivalent to ~$7 - 7.5 per share. MVIS will try to get the highest price possible, the buyer will try to get it for as cheap as possible of course. There's also the possibility they won't sell the company as a whole.

MVIS adding Judy Curran to the BoD suggests Ford could be a buyer for at least the LIDAR portion of the company.

If you own shares outright, probably a good thing.

thanks guys

just trying to figure out what I'm doing this is all new to me and if I should sell in this frenzie which is exciting or hold out for a possible bigger picture, I own a small amount outright not a new rifle and NVG amount, more like a few bricks of 22LR amount

For stock holders generally a good thing as you will get cash payout or a set amount of the purchasers stock. The price of your security will quickly run up towards the agreed upon sale price based upon the markets belief the deal will get approval from the stock holders and .gov. The day of the deal your broker will take the old stock and give you the shares or cash in the your account.

For the employees being bought is generally a bad deal. I dont think I have seen many companies be bought that aren't a shell of themselves within a couple years.

Depends on how much stock the employees own.

I've been tempted to buy a bunch of Ford stock based on this hypothetical. I made some on the stock I did own, bought under $6, sold at $8.

Absolutely true, too many small/medium business employees do a disservice by not demanding an ownership stake. The business gets sold and they find very quickly that they are redundant unless they are rockstars.

I wonder how much profit taking/sell off we’ll see tomorrow? I’m holding either way, just another MVIS day.

I'm tempted to sell the shares I FOMO'd at $3 months ago to lower my cost basis. After hours is looking nice.

EDIT: I might regret it, sold a little @3.32, but lowered ACB to 1.88.

Profits is profits.

Demanding an ownership stake in a non-publicly traded business? Or do you mean demanding the company give them stock?

I keep getting tempted by these upswings to sell 20-30k shares with the idea to buy back later. But between taxes and the potential for that cycle to be the last, prior to buyout, I stand fast.

I hate, and refuse to play the Oracle at Delphi thing, but...

There was a lot of euphoria, with little basis, about an announcement today. They didn't get get it.

Easy to see a retrace to the $2.80 level tomorrow morning. I'm setting up an early trade to take profit on about 10K shares in premarket.

I have enough shares to do that with only minor tears (subject to wife interpretation) if I'm wrong.

Don't know if this article has anything I do with the stock gains.  It's just restating what we already know, but it could be drawing attention.

I'm that fella and I still don't understand their reasoning. I made right at $30,000 on that trade, as they are near worthless options this morning. I effectively spent $0 to do that.

So... if I did it wrong, I hope I keep doing it wrong.
