Dip in Acetone. Scream. Wrap in Scotch 33 black electrical tape. Go back to work.

Any good welder can fix it if my suggestion doesn't work.

Trim it and clean it again.

Already mentioned, but bacitracin or similar will help it close much more quickly and cleanly.

If you can’t resist the temptation to use it and keep banging it, splint it.  Just take a popsicle stick or tongue depressor, cut it to length and clean up and round the cut end.  Cover it in medical tape and then lightly tape it in place to immobilize the nearby joint.  This will prevent you putting pressure on it and it will also speed healing. I do this when dressing most fingertip issues. Not strictly necessary, but it will protect the injury and speed healing.

I read it here and repeat it often, dilution is the solution to pollution. Pretty sure NavyDoc gets credit for that.

I blew up my first sawstop brake this week on a piece of foil backed OSB. Didn't even occur to me to think about conductivity, and I've used bypass mode to cut aluminum many times.

Inventor being a shithead aside (they're owned by the festool parent company now anyway) I have no regrets whatsoever about that purchase and it's a fantastic table saw in its own right.

I was surprised how quiet the brake going off was. I immediately recognized my mistake,  but it was just a fairly muted "pop". I wasnt anywhere near the blade (I was squaring up at an 18" section of the material) but I had expected it to be louder.

Is your blade fucked too or do you just need another cartridge?

I've been thinking about getting one.

I've heard you can reuse the blades, but it was a shit blade on its last legs that I put in solely because I was intending to cut up osb so I wasnt interested in trying to salvage it.

I'm not sure I'd want to chance it, but at the same time it just aluminum after all so it's honestly probably fine.

I'll probably hang the cartridge and blade up on the wall as a reminder to not be a fucking retard.

I wouldn't go to the hospital. I'd probably clean, wrap with gauze/bandaid, some triple, and tape (not really tightly) and be thankful it wasn't worse

Ran a cutting wheel into my index finger one time,
thankfully it didn't hit bone or a tendon. I just kept it clean and wrapped up and monitored for infection and joint movement. Turned out just PEACHY

I have a friend who has on occasion used blue masking tape and part of a paper towel for such purposes.

First 15mg of morphine
wash with soap and water.
test a steri strip and if not enough flex to get it closed, put a cause bump pad on the tip and wrap for protection. Change dressing daily keep it moist with antibiotic cream. Gradually increase the morphine until you are so constipated, that a team of surgeons will have to cut out a third of your impacted intestines. Get a second opinion before it scabs over and need no treatment at all;

Yeah you're lucky

I don't think there's a whole lot the hospital could have done that you can't do at home, you've taken the meat that was filling the space out, stitching it shut would probably leave a weird spot on your skin. You'll probably end up with an atrophic scar and might lose sensitivity in that part of your finger. Keep it clean and watch out for infection.

Bend over, kiss your ass and be thankful you have a thumb on your hand.
Be careful with that saw, it can hurt you, it doesn't care what you put in front of it.
Of course, you should know all these things, hope you heal up fast.
