Sooo hypothetically speaking ,if one were to misplace ones iPhone . How would he go about making the replacement iPhone sync up with all the material that is downloaded for the original iPhone?

When you sync the iPhone to your computer it restores all the data and info.

Just need to remember to sync iPhone to computer often so that data remains up to date.

If you haven't synced to a computer you are SOL.

Best of luck.

Yep.  When you sync a new phone it will offer to restore from a backup that is made at every sync.

Assuming you kept it synched with your computer via iTunes, just get a new phone and synch it.  Voila, a carbon copy of the old one.
