Quoted: My Charles Daly M5 was having problems chambering the first round from the magazine. It looked like the round wasn't sliding up under the extractor. I polished the breech face with some Flitz and my dremel till it was shiny and the problem is gone.

Flitz and dremel? What's that?

Most automatic pistol, and rifle, malfunctions, can be traced back to the magazine. The feeding system is the most important link in the chain. Weak springs, bent feed lips, dirt, etc..
Try your pistol with good quality magazines (WILSON 47 or MecGar) and watch your problem disappear, from what you have said.
Flitz is an abrasive paste mostly used on stainless steel. A Dremel is a rotary tool, like a drill shaped like a pen. USE BETTER MAGAZINES
FIRST!!!!Trust me on this: Get good magazines, get good ammo, test it out, THEN decide. Otherwise, you'll be pouring good money in after bad.
