I got my 9mm conversion barrel (efk firedragon) for my 226 originally in 40 and it is nice! But what magazines will work with this setup? I remember hearing that 9mm glock magazines will work in sig but I bought one today and it doesnt fit. I would be kicking myself except I know I will own a glock some day anyways so oh well. I read that 9mm and 40 frames on sigs are identical... so a 9mm sig magazine will work for sure...?

Glock mags dont fit SIG's.  I think what you read was 40 S&W glock mags will shoot 9mm, they really dont; not very well anyways.  Get some 9mm P226 SIG mags and you'll be good to go.  I have a 9mm and a 40 S&W P226, the slide from the 9mm fits on the 40 S&W frame and I just use 9mm mags.

The sig 9mm, .40, and .357 sig mags are all exactly the same except for the round indicator holes. A 15 round 9mm mag should hold 12 .40 cal. rounds.

Graveyard,  I think your right P226 40 S&W mags might work better.  They have a very small additional ledge on them for the 40 S&W framed pistols slide lock.  My 9mm P226 mags will not lock the slide back on my 40 S&W P226 and they are the same mags with a slightly different follower.
