In Chik Filet drive through by Pensacola NAS I saw a diesel OD green jeep, never knew such a thing existed, though maybe a sailor was able to import it special after PCS from WestPac or something.

Where are you guys going (or planning to go) to get your bumpers and winches? DIY, dealer or a dedicated off road shop?

Gonna get some KC Flex Era 4 lights on first, they seem to be pretty great. I DIY everything on my Jeeps, except tires/wheels. Leaving soon to get those done today actually. |

Got my 35s on and they look huge compared to the Falkens. Ride much better too. Stance w +25 offset wheel is perfect for my tastes. I hate big poke and think it looks stupid. Service tech left his big torque wrench on the back floor, I ran it back after my wife and I grabbed dinner. Had a feeling he'd be missing it.

The color has really grown on me, really love it with black accents, top, fenders, wheels etc.
I went with 315/70R17. To me it's the goldilocks size. Look big in person, more aggressive stance, fills the fender gap a bit. At the same time has zero effect on driveability, steering geometry, gearing, etc. It does ride much better, not as harsh over bumps, but by no means sloppy or floaty. |

View Quote Which tire brand/model? I’ve been thinking about roughly that size. I was set on 255/85 M/T but they just look funny. Too narrow and the lack of sidewall bulge looks a little odd. I don’t want a bunch of poke but I don’t want them inside the fender lips either. Kinda been leaning towards WildPeak R/T 01 which are 11.5 wide. I think there’s also another size(I want to say 285/75) which is closer to a 34. |

Since I do alot of highway driving, we ventured out on the highway. Saleman was constantly telling me about features (and just wouldnt shut up) on the roads to the highway (25-40mph roads). Got on the highway rolling around 60 (55 zone). Felt fine. Road was smooth. 5 min into being on the highway the steering wheel started vibrating. Said something about it to the salesguy and then holy hell let loose. Damn thing felt like all 4 wheels and every suspension bolt came loose and was all over the road. Got off the gas and got it slowed down and over to the shoulder and stopped. Salesman was scared shitless and still had a death grip on the door and dash grab handle. Drove back to the dealer at 30mph at the most down the shoulder and drove fine. Even after we got back to the dealer the guy still had to be coaxed out of it. He was really fucked up, shaking, peaked and tearing up. Was helping him back to the building when another salesguy came out (thinking his boss, dont remember) and told him what happened. 1st thing out of his mouth was "Oh a death wobble". I knew they had a potential little steering issue but though it would be just a little wiggle, not that crazy shit I went through. Seriously thought the thing was gonna go sideways and turn over a few times. Dont know if it had a steering damper on it or not but if it did, it didnt do squat. A tech came out to look at it while I was sitting down in the showroom. Ive road raced cars since 1987. Flipped a few (and some rather spectacularly), slammed tire walls and caught up in other crashes. This Jeep was the 1st time a vehicle actually scared the fuck out of me driving and wont drive one or ride in one again. View Quote Yep, death wobble is a problem on them, even new |

Also, AEV makes a 2” spacer lift kit for all 4 corners. It won’t increase travel/articulation, but will increase clearance. |

Grrrrr…
So, thought I’d crosspost. I have Gorilla Glass on my Gladiator but even so that flat-as-a-pancake windshield is like a vacuum for stones, and it’s construction season in MI. I was driving on the expressway and heard a little clak sound, and that was all it took this time. While I was at work the chip went from about .5” wide to 18” and I haven’t checked it yet today but I’m pretty sure it could be the width of the damned windshield by now. When I get it replaced, I’ll go with Gorilla Glass again but has anyone had a laminate product like this installed? |

I kinda doubt it really does anything but I don’t have personal experience. Maybe dig around on the gladiator forums. I’ve seen people put a paint protection film on their windshields which is just going to scratch and fog. The “glass” products might be better. IDK.
My extended warranty includes glass replacement because it’s a known issue. So I don’t worry about it. |
