No.  GD(HC) is not a disqualifier.

Nope.

General with other than honorable is questionable.

Big chicken dinners and Dishonorable are going to be problematic.

The definitive answer for Federal Law is USC 922:

(6)who has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions;

GD with Honorable discharge  Usually some medical condition (stroke, heart attack etc which leaves the individual unable to preform his/her military duties.

Had a cousin who was with the Old Guard Band at Arlington. He had been in about 20 years planning on 30 when he had a serious stroke with a lot of brain damage. They kept him in until there was nothing more they could do.

Received a General Discharge - Honorable.

He passed recently but was always sensitive about having the "Honorable" used in family genealogical papers, work and books. Reminded my mom (who did most of the publications) many times that he had a General Discharge.

I always figured his damaged brain just could not handle the full terminology or he thought that people were mentally seeing "Less than Honorable"

Another thing is that you can get a dishonorable discharge changed after a certain amount of time depending on the conditions that earned it

Knew a guy who received a dishonorable discharge for striking an officer.

He was able to get it changed to a general discharge years later.   He was then able to carry a firearms

The only discharge that automatically bars you from owning firearms is a dishonorable.  Even a bad conduct or general under other than honorable will not unless it's for domestic violence.

Does a general discharge under honorable conditions, prohibit possession of firearms?

No, but you are not allowed to wear the uniform.
