Was going thru the A2 pic thread, and saw a lot of Aimpoints mounted on them.
What mounting ring do most of y'all use? Is it best to buy a Aimpoint low ring, or will any 30mm low ring work OK? |

For an A1/A2 upper I'd prefer to mount on the carry handle (no gooseneck).
I picked up an A.R.M.S. #16A to do the deed on a retro, but it's not mounted yet. Looks like this (not my pic): Attached File |

Goosenecks are gross. Embrace the height.

Almost 20 years ago, I was looking into a red dot sight for my fixed carry handle AR. I tried an A.R.M.S goose neck mount. Kept it several years, going through a bunch of carbine matches. No problems. Finally, traded the AR for a flattop and went to an Aimpoint Comp. |

This thread is giving me flashbacks. Hated the “chin weld”.on my A2. Was so happy after the ban ended in 2004 to toss the aimpoint M2 on a flat top Colt 6920.

ARMS or Smith enterprises is my recommendation. The Smith is very solid and I’d say better than the ARMS.

Just my damn luck!
My Maryland Gun Works rail is arriving Friday, Primary Arms 30mm ring Thursday. Found a ARMS #16 mount today and bought it. Really wanted this. Between shipping and possible restocking fees, I'll just keep them for another project. |

I wanted to mimic the vertical split on the clones, so tried this.
https://warnescopemounts.com/213lm-warne-30mm-qd-low-matte-rings/ Worked well enough. I ended up doing something else entirely clone unrelated, tho. |
