I liked Zero Dawn a lot, so I didn't hesitate when the PC port of the sequel came out on Steam a couple of days ago. Surprisingly, I found it for $10 off on
gamebillet.com .
I haven't played long enough to comment on the gameplay, except to say that it's more of the same so far. But I wanted to report my hardware and settings, for those who might be wondering whether their rig is adequate.
My monitor is 1440p. I have a 3080 12 GB (overclocked), a 5600X (slightly overclocked), and 16B 0f 3600 15-15-15.
I have almost all the graphics setting at the max (I turn off film effects like vignetting, and chromatic aberration). With DLSS off, I'm getting 80 - 90 fps average and around 65 for 1% lows. Turning on DLSS Quality increased the fps by about 15 for both. It's using around 8.5 GB of VRAM and 10 - 11 GB of system RAM, with a couple of browser tabs open.
In short, if you can play most modern games at acceptable frame rates, I think you should be fine. Cyberpunk and Avatar are more demanding, as examples. If you only have 8 GB of VRAM, it may be worthwhile to tweak the settings a bit to keep usage below that.
I'll be interested to see what mods come out for it, and of course, I'd like to hear your impressions if you're playing.
