Chelsea's losing the plot
Think I might just go back to AZ and get away from it all |
|
The Premier League is a lot more balanced this season, and that's good for everyone. No more of one team running away with it all.
The Bundesliga is a joke. Bayern Munich has already won the championship with 7 games to go. Everyone else has fallen flat on their collective faces. Dortmund is still in the CL, but they're going to get bounced rudely by Real Madrid. Even La Liga has a little three-way action going this season. |

not in a million years could i have predicted today's scoreline at OT. seeing Utd defend with 2 rows of 4 = 8 behind the ball, for the entire first 45 minutes was telling. oh, right, this was the Mourhino "park the bus" tactic against Barca that got him a route to the CL trophy a few years back. Kagawa changed things today that that was a positive from Moyes. but they have to go to Munich and score now, there is no way around it. ar-jedi |

Well that was a little ugly, but a win is a win. One step closer.....
and "haha!" at the gunners. |

I feared for the Red universe when Kolo Tourr stepped on... ar-jedi |

UEFA just opened up a big box of worms with a statement declaring Thibaut Courtois eligible to play in the matches*, saying anything in the contract between Chelsea and Atletico not to play him if they are paired against each other is "null, void and unenforcable".
*Courtois is a Chelsea player on loan to Atletitco. Loaned players aren't usually permitted to play against their parent clubs (Chelsea let him play against them once before, but that was a glorified friendly). IMO, he plays and has a bad day the people will say the match was fixed; he has a career day and he hurts the club he's contracted to. |

i simply don't know what to say. as a LFC fan and a US taxpayer this saga has equal parts schadenfreude and outrage. https://www.autonews.com/article/20140211/RETAIL03/140219965/chevys-$600-million-manchester-united-deal-turning-into-a-fiasco Chevrolet's controversial $600 million sponsorship deal of English soccer giant Manchester United can't get any worse, can it? Yes, it can, before it even begins next season. For decades, Manchester United has been the lord of English soccer, ahem, football. Rooting for Man U is like betting on the New York Yankees. They have loads of championship hardware on the shelf, perennially field a team laden with world-class talent, play in a historic stadium and have been led by a legendary coach. They win with class and style. In addition to playing in the English Premier League -- the most watched football league in the world, with an estimated weekly reach of 643 million TV households in 212 countries -- Manchester United also plays in the European Champions League tournament, which pits it against other legendary clubs like Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona. That's another 360 million passionate TV households, some of which might not regularly watch the English league games because they prefer the Spanish, German, French or Italian leagues. That's incremental exposure. Those were the kinds of numbers that attracted then-head of GM marketing Joel Ewanick to connect the Chevrolet brand with the storied English club. Although the $600 million price tag was steep, the opportunity to showcase the Chevy bow tie in front of hundreds of millions of TV viewers worldwide, several times a week, for a sporting season that's pretty much year-round, seemed too good to pass up. Never mind that Chevrolet is basically a nonentity in Europe, and that promoting Chevy would clash with GM's existing Opel and Vauxhall brands over there. According to a team survey, Manchester United's fan base is 659 million people, nearly half of whom live in the Asia-Pacific region. That's global exposure in a lot of markets that Chevy wants to plunder. The deal proved to be Ewanick's undoing, however, as some of the under-reported minutiae of the deal led to his being sacked. But the ink was dry. The Chevy badge was going to be on Man U jerseys starting in fall 2014 through 2021. The price tag was high, but it was worth it, right? Wrong. Everything has gone sour at Old Trafford. <story continues at link above> View Quote ar-jedi |

View Quote he can play. the contracts says it would cost them 3 milions per match though. its a contractual penalty these contracts exists since back in early 2000's, Morientes was a RM player loaned to AS Monaco.... in semi finals, Morientes scored against Real Madrid, and sent AS Monaco to the final (lost to FC Barcelona) |

What a momentum shift. Back 4 are disorganized and on their heels, no possession on the attacking half...fuck.
Gut check time for Liverpool. |
