you're still not as cool as Mal Nope. but this is the crown jewel of my Halloween costume....which is Mal. |

So... It is one of those guns that fires a magnetic bullet with magnetic fields?
I want one if it is yes. Or, is this just a gun that looks like a movie gun? Is it even a gun? |
|
Somebody really needs to build a functional one. I don't think a semi .22 would be impossible.
ETA: Based on a Ruger Charger, maybe... |
|
|
Argh! I hate you! I want a REAL one.
Quoted: I give you the Moses Bros. Self-Defense Engine Frontier Model B It came with the poster and a permit to carry a sidearm. ETA for those members without a clue. Yes, it is a prop gun. From a TV show called firefly and movie called Serenity. A very anti-big government, pro freedom show that most ARFCOMers that have seen, really enjoyed. Wrapped Blue Sun paper too. http://nullbits.foxxz.net/albums/gun/Mal_Gun.jpg http://nullbits.foxxz.net/albums/gun/Mal_gun2.jpg |

The real one is a heavily modified grip, but otherwise functional Taurus 85 with stuff added one.

Id rather have Vera.. I'll take 'get both' for $1000, Alex... Seriously, I was going to buy one from qmx until I saw the price. That one might have to wait, if they're still around when I can justify buying it. <Insert obligatory Firefly quote here> Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Id rather have Vera.. or Zoe's levergun. Zoey's levergun is just a Mare's Leg in .45 Colt. Go out and buy one right now. Jayne's revolver is a modified Le Mat replica, and Vera is a Saiga-12 shotgun with Legos attached. |
|
and here I though someone went out and made a working version in .45 Colt or something... |

The Internet Movie Firearms Database Firefly entry is most excellent.
Is the base Taurus for Mal's gun really still functional? It doesn't look wide enough for the cylinder, and I'd assume that the gases escaping from the cylinder gap would tear up the add on bits pretty bad. |

I dunno, but in one of the blooper scenes for the movie, where Mal's supposed to shoot the guy in the crashed ship, the gun goes *click* instead and he turns to the camera and says "the bullet fell out of my gun". |

Great, like I don't spend enough time on the interweb as it is...time sink. ByteTheBullet (-: |

OMG!! Vera was a Jim Boland creation!
Ok if we can track down an Larry Zanoff (co-creator). We might be able to get plans.. And I might (very likely) go back to smithing.. |
|
Yeah, it's functional and fired standard blanks.
The left side panel of the outer shell comes off so you can swing out the cylinder and reload. I've seen multiple pics, and closeups. |
