(CNN)Turns out, the rich really are getting richer. And they'll soon own more than the rest of us put together. So says a new report, which estimates that the richest 1% will have as much wealth as the other 99% combined by next year. "The richest 1% have seen their share of global wealth increase from 44% in 2009 to 48% in 2014," Oxfam says in a report Monday. At that rate, the wealthiest will own more than 50% by next year, according to the report. "Do we really want to live in a world where the 1% own more than the rest of us combined?" asked Winnie Byanyima, executive director of the international aid agency. |

God, I hope so. I love the fact that people can become wealthy beyond my own imagination. Think of the cool shiot those people will do with all of that money. New companies created from whole cloth based on their investments. Whole regions uplifted soely because of their philanthropy. Jobs, new scientific discoveries, more goods and services purchased, the list is endless.
I hope every single one of us becomes so rich through our own work and planning that the 1% includes 5 or 6 billion of us. Class warfare is a stupid, stupid premise to hang your worldview on. |
|
You do realize that 1% of 260,000,000 people is 2.6 million people right? It is not surprising that 2.6 million people that work really hard and reinvest in business own more than the other 258 million people.
|
|
Set up a system where 1/2 of the people don't have to work and we wonder
why those same people are perpetually broke? |
|
And yet, them being rich doesn't make me, or anyone else poor.
|

Any zero expanation about the reason... Seems when the Fed pumps billions into the market to 'increase liquidity' it goes into companies/entities that were already owned by the rich. As a result the rich get richer. Did they really believe the 99% owned those companies in the first place? Just another symptom of the government creating a situation and then screaming about the evil capitalists. BTW, what did the infusion of all that cash do to the actual value of the dollar? If the Saudis were not pumping oil like crazy, the global oil market would still be selling oil at $100 a barrel - not because oil increased in value, but rather the dollar decreased in value.
ETA. According to Gallup, the median annual household income worldwide is $9,733, and the median per-capita household income is $2,920, this means that even the U.S. welfare recipient is part of the 1%. |

They are talking "global wealth" so I assume they are talking 1% of the global population. The numbers aren't the least bit shocking or troubling at all. Especially considering they are counting every primitive native community in Africa and South America. Not to mention the billions living in the various undeveloped nations of the world. And as a previous poster said, its not a zero sum game anyway. |

Two questions for you, OP:
1. Why are you concerned with how much someone else owns? 2. Why do you not own more? |
|
Own more than us? They are talking globally OP. YOU are the 1% they are talking about because you aren't living in a grass hut. The 99% mentioned in that story has an average wage of $1.25/day.

After processing and reallocation, we begin Q1 sometime after Valentines day and the whole game starts over fresh and clean. Zero interference, no special interests, no special favors. I mean, the federal government basically owns everything anyway so why not just let them divide it up fairly and equally? |

Interesting, in that the Article is a call for Global communism.
WTF are we supposed to do about Global inequalities? CNN really is the Communist News network. Meanwhile, the "global elite" members had an average wealth of $2.7 million each last year, it says. The report comes a day before President Barack Obama is expected to unveil proposals that close tax breaks on the wealthy. So, if you have a house in an expensive neighborhood, and a decent retirement account, you are a member of the "Global Elite" and therefore a sheep to be sheared. |

It can however create something that is an anomaly in all of human history......fat poor people. That is why so much of the world hates America. We have fat poor people. In other countries, fatness can be a sign of wealth because it shows you have the money to indulge on food. So how does it make everyone else feel when our FSA is fat? But I guarantee that socialism and communism can make everyone equally poor and miserable.

Oh, & don't forget to raise the price of the goods & services you market to (predominantly middle class) consumers, to cover those big tax increases you can't avoid. No matter who they're intentionally aiming at, social engineers always end up shooting the middle class. |

In my experience it goes like this: 1. you have talent 2. you consult your advice pool 3. you sell talent to your connections 4. you and your connections make money together. A lot of business is knowing the right people. |

US population is up to about 316 million. SNAP participants number 1 in 6 of this and suck down about 6.7 BILLION dollars monthly. http://www.fns.usda.gov/sites/default/files/pd/SNAPsummary.pdf 1 in 6, of every man, woman and child in the US, on the tit. Who pays for it? Well the other 5 of 6? Nope. Children aren't paying in, low wage workers aren't paying in, etc. What is a 1%er? Had a guy at work a couple weeks ago bitch, bitch, bitch about how the 1%er are running the country. I let him finish, then asked him what a 1%er was. He looked at me like I had just farted in his face. He then spit out a stupid high number for annual income. I smiled and told him to Google it. Turns out he was much closer to being a 1%er than he ever would have thought. I get it, those that put in the effort to be a net positive are evil, those that live off the tit are the pillars of our society. |
