How is your go to AR setup? That one AR you would grab to fend off EBT zombies, or to relocate to a safer place.
Having eleventy ARs doesn't matter, I'm asking about the one you would grab over all the others. What was the reasons you considered when setting up that one AR? |
Rifle, IR laser/illuminator, suppressor, possibly S&B ShortDot, depending.
Light, sight and sling. Simple and I can see in the dark.
Would love to add IR to the mix eventually. |

Right now all I have on it is Magpul BUIS and AFG due to funds.
The plan is to hit anything from 25m out to 300-400m all day long. I know it can do that now but I want to be able to do it with ease. So, a RDS and some magnification. |
My go-to AR is set up vertically, in the front left corner of my gun safe.
A .223 with a 30 round magazines, 18" short barrel with a big-ass flashlight (Fenix TK-22), and IR flashlight (Surefire), and IR laser with matching PVS-14 helmet mounted scope.
A point most don't think about is that zombies are not thermally active. Ever think about it? If they ate and actually processed their food it would be coming out of their asses (yes, this is now a poop thread) but I've never seen a single zombie with shit running down their legs. They're not smart enough to drop their pants and get them up - hell they can't even turn a door knob - so they're not unbuckling their pants. I therefore suggest that the eat but no not digest the bodies they capture. They don't have a metabolic rate as zombie heads will continue to be animated for years after decapitation. No metabolic rate, no heat process, no thermal so night vision is best. |

14.5 inch colt m4 barrel, bcm upper, dd rear sight, KAC RAS, Bushmaster lower, car stock, 951 light, EOTech EXPS.
And because it works and works and works. |
Anderson lower, PSA SS Dissipator 16", MOE SL furniture and Pro rear sight, in the up position. Stock is in position 2. Surefire Scout with a Malkoff M60 drop in, Surefire CR123's and a push button tailcap mounted at 9 o'clock on a Magpul 5 slot rail, middle set of holes. 20rd g3 non window mag, loaded with soft point 55's. Rifle is leaning against the wall in the corner behind the bedroom at approximately 80* angle.
I'd use it over my other AR's because this one is actually assembled. |

Quoted: Total fucking 13er gun here, I just love it. Obviously the Geissele SSA is my favorite part of it, the single point sling my least favorite. One of these days I'll throw a 2-point on there but I'm in no rush. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/KOOLmike/20141005_085524_zpsftyo8ikb.jpg View Quote Bcauz3y approved.

Colt LE6920 with a Geissele SSA trigger and an EoTech EXPS3-0 red dot optic.
Simple and light weight. And......A Glock 17 at the ready. |
9" 300 Blackout with Aimpoint H1, Surefire x300 (until I can buy a Scout mini), and Troy BUIS.
Easy to move around indoors, Aimpoint batteries last forever, and useful to at least 200 yards. |
My go to AR:
14.5" CHF 249 chromed barrel - effective enough to push out 300 yards and beyond and more handy to turn a corner with than a 16" gun. I like the CHF 249 chromed barrel for barrel life and durability. It's fairly accurate too. 13" Geissele MK4 rail. I like long rails so its a personal preference. It's very light weight and gives me everything I need and nothing I don't. AAC flash hider and SDN-6 can. - Because I don't want to blind myself in the dark if I'm not using a can, I'm a pussy and think muzzle brakes are loud, and sometimes I prefer to be quiet. SSA trigger - it allows you to shoot fast up close and be more precise for longer shots. Sopmod Stock - because I like them. MOE+ grip - also because I like them. Aimpoint T1 2moa because its small, light, and fast. Aimpoint 3x mag on twist mount - because I like to see things I'm shooting at up close. The mount also allows me to put my NV on in the same place. IR laser for using the NV on a head mount. Surefire VIS/IR light - for obvious reasons. KAC micro BUIS because two is one and one is none. Two point sling because I prefer them over one points. A little Noveske cross on the side of the lower because I'm an elitist. |

But dude, why not give that poor thing a bath? |

My go-to is just a 16" bbl lightweight contour, chrome lined with midlength gas FSB. EOTech and back-up rear sight. It has a Surefire Fury P2X 500 lumen white light on it (the single click clicky cap one from Bravo Company).
I'm going to be making the move to a 12.5" gov't profile bbl, carbine gas length with AAC mini-4 suppressor, ACOG TA44s, White/IR/IR laser set up. |
A2 upper with bull barrel (barrel was threaded and an A2 flash hider installed), regular hand guards, CTR stock. No optics, lights, etc. My next one will probably have more stuff.
2 S&W Sports with Magpul flip up rear sight, an angled flashlight holder and a pretty darn good 10.00 LED which illuminates about 100 feet ahead.
They do everything I need them to do at the ranch. The only change I did was put Handguards with metal heat shields. The factory ones do not have metal, just plastic. I have not missed the dust cover or forward assist once. oh and a mix of Pmags and GI mags. |

Dissipator with 16.5" barrel, rifle length gas and sight, MOE hand guard, DD rear sught, ACS stock, 2 point sling, and a Haley Strategic WML.

Is mine one too? Mine is an LMT 10.5 and I only use the magnifier for shooting stuff past 200m. It comes off inside the house. I'm currently saving up for a suppressor, laser, and NODs right now, but college is making that difficult. Suppressor will hopefully happen by the end of the year either way. |
10.5" SBR, 1.5x ACOG, Surefire light, and my F1 new suppressor will be added as soon as my mount arrives in the mail in a few days.
I only have one.
It's a 20: HBAR with Geiselle SSA-E 2013 Cola Warrior Edition and an ancient Weaver Marksman 4 that is built like a tank. Not fancy, but it works. |
Instead of having multiple ARs... I have one DDM4V5 16" and put the extra money from other potential guns into an ACOG, Geissele match trigger and a sling. I'm on week 2 and it feels good

OG M&P Sport with Melonite barrel, MBUS, 1/8 5R barrel, added the following:
-MOE+ Grip in Stealth Grey -Magpul SL Handguard also in Stealth Grey -Magpul M-LOK AFG in Stealth Grey -B5 Sopmod Stock -BCM Med. Latch CH -Nikon P223 fixed 3x scope Well, at least that was my go to until the tragic boating accident |
Colt 14.5 barrel, pinned YHM FH on a BCM upper, BCM FA BCG, DD A1.5 BUIS, EOTech, DD Omega FF, VLTOR IMod (the original version), with lots of D&H mags.
