I'm watching Blazing Saddles and I got to wondering if I enjoyed the Mel Brooks classics or the Monty Python movies best.
I can't really decide. "Don't know. Mongo only pawn in game of life." |
|
typical Arfcom answer:
watch both! I like the Mel Brooks stuff a little more Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein are two of my favorite comedies |

I never found British humor that funny, and Mel kicks ass !!! "Count the money,Count the money" "It's Count De Monet" http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx323/progun1911/countdemonet.jpg "You look like the piss boy!" |

IMO two different styles of comedy, both hilarious. Yep, get both... I was always more partial to Monty Python, I love dry deadpan Brit humor... |

This is a really good question.
I can do: .45>9mm Beatles>Elvis Beans>No Beans But I cannot decide on this one and must vote pie. |
|
I didn't get a 'harrumph' outta that guy!!
You watch your ass! As much as I love Monte Python, The Holy Grail and Life of Brian are the only movies I really watch over and over. But I'll watch a Mel Brooks flick any time I see one on the tube. Comic genius he is. |

I don't like your cuffs! A man's cuffs should be even with the tip of his 'pee-pee'. Yours are all the way down to your balls! Count de Monet: At least I have them! Bearnaise: Bitch! |
|
I'm partial to the schmaltzy jew-humor than the british schtick that I don't find funny at all.

I voted for Mel but honestly both are great and in my opinion as others stated they are a little different style
another answer should have been "Get both" |

Blazing Saddles vs. Life of Brian....
Both are far too good to vote against so I can't vote at all. |
|
Brooks reminds me of some sleazy, no-talent, lounge lizard stand-up comic with a drum set behind him for the punch lines.

Sorry but the Arfcom standard of "Get Both' Applies to this...can't choose between the two.
"He said the Sheriff is Near" |

The fact the poll is limited to movies affects the results.
There are only three canon Monty Python movies I can think of (Hollywood Bowl and Completely different don't really count, skit performances from the TV show) ETA: I know every work to "The Philosphers Song" and I voted Brooks Movies |
|
Completely different style of Comedy. Personally, I think British humor is kinda strange.
I prefer American brand of Comedy, so I will go with Mel Brooks. His movies are always great. However, that isn't to say movies like Monty Python Holy Grail aren't classics. |
|
Mel Brooks is hit or miss. Sometimes he knocks it out of the park. A lot of times he strikes out.
Everything from the Monty Python troupe is absolutely golden. They're both quotable for miles. |

I love both. Young Frankenstein, and Search for the Holy Grail. Great flix.
|
|
Blazing Saddles is the funniest movie ever made. Monty Python stuff is top grade, but Brooks has a slight edge over them.
|
|
Quoted: Mel Brooks is almost never funny. Not if you like sex and Jew jokes. And lots of 'em. |

There's a big variety. I've always written off the opinion of anyone who equates Monty Python with Benny Hill as unrefined, and not worthy of consideration. |
