Me likey
Should this be a near term purchase? And if yes, would anyone carry something like this for their edc carry weapon? 10mm goodness! |

Fo until it's so chapped you can't Fo no 'mo. Then learn to reload 10miz.

I know GD is not the correct place to ask a technical question, but how does 10mm compare to .41 special/.41 mag?
|
|
Would probably be fun, as I am a 10mm fan. Not the best carry choice for most people though. I know I can't double tap 10mm as well as I can 9mm or 45.
I think this is an elaborate ploy to have pony grips on a 1911.

I picked up a a TAC 1911 VZ last year.
I voted yes but be advised: I had to send it in due to it needing a beefed up op spring ( which I hear around the net is common) and it also had a problem in that the slide stop would engage in the middle of a mag. Sent it in and it works now. Would not carry it as I don't trust it. If you pump up your loads that will be a snappy little bugger, the full size weighs a ton and still kicks like a mule. Have fun.

FBI loads are in the same ballpark as .40 S&W and .41 SPC. Of course in the right gun .41 Mag could be loaded considerably hotter than 10mm. |

The gun you want is the same gun highlighted in a recent NRA rag.
I like the price and 10mm is sweet, but I do not like the fact that you need a bent paperclip to field strip it. That just seems like poor engineering. Of course, I am not a 1911 fanboy either. If I HAD to have a 10mm, it would probably be a Glock. |
|
For hotter loads like Underwood Ammo offerings, I would go with a Glock 20. I have on and its fantastic. Otherwise most factory 10mm ammo isn't really different than 40 S&W. and the 1911 seems to come with the recommendation to use lighter loads.
I like the 1911 fine - I have several in 45ACP and they are great. For 10mm hot loads go with older S&W, EAA or Glock offerings |

I gave a Gen 3 G20SF and I would love to ALSO have a RIA Tac II.
|
|
I would do it, looks like a nice pistol that only needs a set of decent sights.
|

|
Prepare for some work.
Mine needed: -new recoil spring assy -sear spring -trigger -WC 10mm magazines To work properly. I could have sent it to RIA, but I figured I could do the job faster myself. I also installed some actual sights instead of the fisher price garbage that comes with the gun. |

I Approve of this! I like to buy the spring/follower kit's and install them pretty much in all my carry mags if not using Tripps. It's the only mag I can say has been 100% in ALL my 1911's, They Rock |
|
I have a RIA 1911 and really like it. Their customer service rocks too.

|
I really want to pull the trigger on one the more I think about it
|

I've really, really resisted buying one of these. Every time I get close, I remind myself that I don't shoot my current 10.

Anyway, I'd buy one of these RIA 10mm if I was looking for another 10mm to add to my collection. I'd also like a Dan Wesson RZ-10. |

View Quote Bought mine for $650. Wish I could find another at that price. |

Saw one of the RIA 10mm 1911's at a gun shop in Ky a few weeks ago. Will be picking one up soon.
Just wish VLTOR would get off their asses and bring out the Fortis. |

love mine, great pistol, I went with a heavier spring (21lbs) to prevent bashing the frame apart on full power loads, and to keep my brass from exiting the atmosphere.
only other thing I did was add a metal main spring housing, it hadn't failed, I just didn't like the plastic one. I would love to upgrade the reverse plug to a supported type, because I think a only weak point would be the factory one rotating and locking up the pistol. yeah, you gotta change a few things, but for the price they can't be beat. |
